ISSUE-93 March - 2018 SCIENCE & TECH EXPO-2K18 Science and Tech Expo, the annual techno-cultural festival of GIET, Gunupur was started with great enthusiasm and excitement on 17 th February 2018. The event began with the Mini-Marathon which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Secretary, Dr. C. D. Panda amidst the presence of Principal, Dr. K. Senthil Kumar, Dean, Dr. N.V.J Rao, Staff members and students. Journey of stay fit stay healthy started form G.P.S. (Old Campus) to GIET, Gunupur. followed by the essence of floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi statue inside the campus.. The three days mega fest was inaugurated in the Central Auditorium where galaxy of dignitaries likes Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera, Senior Technical Director, NIC, Bhubaneswar. Dr. Satya Prakash Panda, Chairman, GGI, Dr. Chandra Dhwaj Panda, Secretary, GGI, Dr. Jagadish Panda, Vice Chairman, GGI, Dr. N. V. J. Rao, Dean Administration, GGI and Dr. K. Senthil Kumar, Principal, GIET, Gunupur graced the occasion. The Expo T-Shirt, designed by the students was unveiled by the dignitaries. On the 2 nd day of the Mega Fest, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Berhampur University, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Das, visited the campus. The 6 th volume of G.I.E.T’s annual techno-social magazine, PRAYAS, an effort by the active NSS team, GIET, Gunupur was also unveiled in the inaugural ceremony. Each day of the tech fest, the delegates felicited the students for their academic, curricular and extracurricular performance with Cash Prizes and mementos. The ATV and Battery Rickshaw of the dept. of Mechanical Engineering was the centre of attraction. The play ground witnessed a huge gathering from the college and localities who enjoyed different fun games like the bull racing, Shooting etc. The 3 rd day of the Science & Tech Expo 2K18 was an amalgamation of art and culture where the technocrats cast magical spell on the audience by their flamboyant dance and song performance. The Foreign National Students have pushed all geographical and cultural boundaries by their traditional dance performance. Ace Bollywood singer Mr. Asit Tripathi and Indian Idol fame Ms. Neha Chauhan entertained the audience with their magical voice.

SCIENCE & TECH EXPO-2K18

Science and Tech Expo, the annual techno-cultural festival of GIET, Gunupur was started with great enthusiasm

and excitement on 17th February 2018. The event began with the Mini-Marathon which was inaugurated by Hon’ble

Secretary, Dr. C. D. Panda amidst the presence of Principal, Dr. K. Senthil Kumar, Dean, Dr. N.V.J Rao, Staff members

and students. Journey of stay fit stay healthy started form G.P.S. (Old Campus) to GIET, Gunupur. followed by the

essence of floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi statue inside the campus..

The three days mega fest was inaugurated in the Central Auditorium where galaxy of dignitaries likes

B.Tech students of departments of CSE, IT, ECE, AE&I EE, EE &Mech) as a part of the Industry Institution Interaction

program. They moved around the campus and appreciated the overall growth of the institution and assured to hire

candidates from GIET, Gunupur.

♦ Mr. Karthik Abhiram(Head Lead – campus Recruitment for TCS Hyderabad), our proud alumnus Mr. Subham

swain (Social Media Manager) & Mr.Anikit Goyal(Sr. Application Engg- Oracle) visited the college on 24th Feb. 2018

and addressed the 1st year B-Tech students on the topic “Career and Employability”.

♦ A FDP on the “Role of Mentor in Shaping the Students Career” was conducted on 19th Feb, 2018 by Amtul Ali

Lubna, VP – Operation, Ratex IT Services ( Hyderabad), Rasheed MA – Head HR, AsaBhanu Technical Services Ltd

( Hyderabad) and Mr.Dilip Kumar Mohanty - Chief (HRM) (JayaswalNeco Industries Ltd.

In-Plant Industrial Training

♦ Training has been made compulsory for all 4th and 6th Semester students during the ensuing Summer Holidays.

Students have responded very well having understood the importance of this in-plant industrial training and so far

about 90 % students have collected their Forwarding Letters from T&P department.

♦ 250 KW Rooftop Solar Power Plant installation work was started

by Hon’ble Vice Chairman, GGI, Gunupur, Dr. Jagadish Panda on 7th

February 2018 in the college premises.

♦ DST-SYST sanctioned the funding of Rs. 22, 31,072/- as the 1st

installment for a research project under the guidance of Prof. G.R.K.D.

♦ Department of Computer Science and Engineering became the

remote center of NME-ICT (National Mission on Education through

Information and Communication and Technology) Workshops

Management System, IIT Bombay under the guidance of the

Remote Center Coordinator. It is an ambitious project undertaken by

the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government

of India

♦ EDP Cell has organized the Start-Up Odisha _India Yatra on 15

February 2018 where Start-Up Odisha and India presented and

motivated to register innovative ideas in the start-up Odisha website

for assistance of mentoring, financial support and proper funding.

♦ Dept. of Chemical Engg. Organized a two days national seminar on

“Conversion of Biomass into Fuel” from 3rd to 4th March, 2018. Dr.

Harmohan Jena, Associate Professor of NIT, Rourkela was invited as

the chief guest of the seminar.

♦ A eight days workshop on hands on practice on Advance welding

was organized by the Dept. of Mechanical Engg. from 5th to 13th Feb

2018.Mr. Ajit Prasad Dash,Mr. Gopal Krushna Mohanty and Mr.

Sibabrata Mohanty of the department delivered lectures on welding

to 2nd and 3rd year students with hands on practice on welding in the

Welding workshop.

♦ A Three Days skill development programme and hands on practice

on Automobile Engineering was organized by the department of

Mechanical Engg. from 1st to 3rd Feb 2018. Mr. Vikram Motwani, Chief

Technology Officer and Mr. Amit Sickerwal Assistant Engineer of

Republic Motor, Rajasthan gave a brief knowledge on motors of

automobile.

♦ Department of Electronics Engg has organized a one day seminar

on “Wireless Communication- 1G to 5G leading to IOT under the

guidance of Dr. S.K. Patra, Director, IIIT, Vadodara” on 28th Feb, 2018.

♦ Department of Electronics Engg organized a one day FDP on

“Transition from Electronics to Photo Electronics” by Dr.N. Das,

former Professor VSSUT, Burla on 5th Feb, 2018.

♦ Department of Electronics Engg has organized a one day seminar

on “Fundamentals of Electromagnetic Theory” by Dr. N. Das,

former Professor VSSUT, Burla on 2nd on 6th Feb, 2018. for the 2nd

year students of dept. of ECE & AE&E.

♦♦♦♦♦ Dr. B. C. Meikap, Professor, IIT, Khadagpur visited the dept. of

Chemical Engineering and conducted a one day FDP on “Latest

Trends in Chemical Engineering & research”.

♦ “HASTA LA VISTA”, the farewell function for the final year students

of the dept. of Chemical Engg was held on 25th March, 2018.

in the Entrepreneurship programme “Gujurat Summit 2018”, Gujarat.

♦ Mr. Aditya Sinha, a 4th year student of the Department of CSE developed an Android app for J.K.Papermill, Rayagada.

was felicited by the HoD and other staff members of the department as being the only student from the college out of

the 500 participants.

♦♦♦♦♦ Mr. Premanand Jena of 2nd year,AE&IE) and Mr. Sourabh

Das of 2nd year,ECE) has won the 1st prize in the

ROBOSOCCER event, organized by “KILOBOTS”, the

Robotics club of Govt College of Engg., Bhawanipatna,

Kalahandi on 27th and 28th Feb, 2018. Mr. Premanda has

also won the 2nd prize in Task Master (Robotics) event

organized by VSSUT,Burla.

♦ Prof. G.R.K.D. Satya Prasad, HOD EE & EEE .& Prof.I/C R&D visited IIIT, Hyderabad to attend the R&D

conclave on 24th February 2018.

♦ Dr. Sangeeta Raut of dept. of Bio-Technology was invited as a Resource person for the special seminar conducted

by the PG Department of Life Sciences, SKCG(Autonomous), Paralakhemundi, Gajapati on 28th March 2018.

♦ Mr. Pedina Sibakrishna, of dept. of Chemical Engg. attended the AICTE QUIP Short Term Course on “

Thermochemical Conversion of biomass for energy and fuels” at IIT Madras from 12 to17 February, 2018.
