Modern Science

Quantum theory deals with the smallscale world of atoms and particles.

The theory of relativity covers the

large-scale structure of the universe.

Scientists are searching for acomplete and consistent theory that

unifies quantum and relativity theories.

Quantum theory

In 1900, Max Planck published his theory explaining

the emission spectrum of black bodies (Quantum

theory).

"quanta", comes from the Latin "quantus", for "how

much". In physics, quantum refers to an indivisible,and elementary entity.

The Planck length is 10-36 meters. (That is one meter

divided by one followed by 36 zeros!)

The Planck time is 10-43 seconds. (That is one second

divided by one followed by 43 zeros!)

Need for a cosmic factor

Albert Einstein, after his theory of special

relativity (1905) and theory of general

relativity (1915), intuitively felt the need for

cosmic factor and incorporated it in his theory

as cosmological constant. Later, he abandonedit due to its incompatibility with physics.

Results found in 2000, however, revealed that

Einstein was probably right after all: the

cosmological constant not only exists, but darkenergy probably makes up the largest source of

matter/ energy in the entire universe.

Light year is the distance covered by light inone year travelling at 300 000 kilometers per

second.

continuum.

Covalent bond of atoms

A covalent bond is formed

when the electron clouds of

two atoms overlap. Where

the clouds overlap they are

thicker, and their electriccharge is stronger.

A group of atoms joined in

this way is known as a

molecule.

The number of covalentbonds which an atom can

Entropy and the states of gross matter

According to the Laws of Thermodynamics, entropy, the

measure of the disorderin a closed system, and its

direction -- toward increasing disorder -- cannot be

reversed. Entropy is not purely a physics term. It

can also be applied to everything from gardens to

When the star cools and its energy isreduced, it explodes and throws away

some atoms that combine to make

molecules. The picture here shows

supernova like explosion.

Current theories connect the formation

of the solar system with supernova. The

sun had, perhaps, two supernova like

explosions. The first one created the

bodies Jupiter and beyond, and thesecond one created bodies closer than

Jupiter.

What is consciousness?

Qualia are considered to be the microwave form ofconsciousnessjust as

Life and Consciousness

Life, as we know, is only on the earth.The source of life is the continuum of waves/particlesat the quantum level that carry the code of life. Thosewaves are present universally ever since the creationof the quantum field in the universe.At the level of galaxies, stars and other celestialbodies, the source of life is dormant due to theabsence of appropriate physical conditions.
