Why do objects of different masses fall on the ground at

the same time ?

The Free Fall Motion

• The free fall motion is

a kind of motion in which

objects fall freely due to

gravitational force.

All objects moving

under the influence of gravity are said to be in free fall So, basically its a kind of motion we can observe in daily life .

Galileo's Law of Motion

• Galileo formulated the laws

which governs the ,motion of the

objects during free fall. He

was trying to prove that gravity

pulls all the objects to the

ground at the same time,

whether they are heavy or light,

big or small. So he did an experiment to prove this. He took two cannonballs ,one big and one small ,then he dropped them from the leaning tower of Pisa .

Factors Affecting the Speed

• Issac Newton, a famous scientist who also studied motion, created three laws of motion. The second law consisted of acceleration\speed. He concluded that acceleration\speed is affected by two factors :

• Force and • Mass

Example • For example ,if we drop a baby

elephant and a mouse from some height ,who will come down to theground first? Well ,the answer is no.Why? Well ,that is because F\M (force over mass) of the baby elephant is equal to the F\M of the mouse .That is because ,for the baby elephant ,the more the speed ,the more the gravitational force ,but its heavy weight prevents the gravity to pull it so hard .As for the mouse ,the less the speed ,the bless the gravitational force ,but its light weight prevents the gravity from pulling it so weakly .Which makes it equal to baby elephant . But all of this is happening in the presence of vacuum .Without vacuum ,the baby elephant will fall first .
