Title: Science and technology are beneficial to mankind: Do you agree?

Science and technology are probably the most debated issue for decades.

Scientific and technology development have been debated as whether they bring

benefits or harms to mankind. Many argue that as we venture further into the world of technology, we proceed with a slow death of society, by losing culture and ultimately a

sense of humanity. To a certain e tent this may be true, but realistically if we stop

progressing we would not be able to survive in this fast!pace world. So, where does

that live us now? "hether to embrace the comfort that science and technology has to

offer or simply live in traditional ways as our forebears? "ell, the choice is yours.

The most obvious response to the #uestion posed would be a definite $%&S'. (s

for today, with the help of science and technology, medical research is done every dayto find cures or vaccines for severe diseases such as cancer, (l)heimer's and many

more. *eing diagnosed with these hard to cure diseases are devastating, but to know

that there is cure is a relieved for those who suffer tremendously because of these

diseases. &ven though some diseases like (+DS cannot be treated, but now there was

enough technology to help slow the process of the disease. +nstead of having two to

three years of living healthy after being diagnosed with (+DS, now they have a longer

period of time to en oy life with the e ception that they need to take a lot of medicine to

stay alive. Due to the benefits of science and technology, many lives can be saved. +n

this case, the diseases are not caused by science and technology, but we are using

science and technology to fight it.

The invention of computer is also one of the prominent e amples of the benefits of

science and technology. Since the invention of computer in- /0, computers are

commonly used every day for numerous reasons. 1omputer ease their work by

helping them writing reports, researching, accounting, numerous web pages, email,and last but not least entertainment reasons. 2owever, some people claim that the

technology of computer has brought great harm to society. 3or e ample, school

children spend hours in front of the computer playing games or surfing the internet

and they can accessed pornographic sites easily, e posing them to the influence of

yellow culture and negative elements. +t makes us wonder then, is technology an

advantage? "ell, the blame should not be put on technology, but rather on the people

who misused it for their own satisfaction. Technology, as it was invented, is made for

making our life easy instead of corrupting us.

+n the communication field, science and technology also gives a great deal of

contribution in term of creation of devices such as telephones, emails, fa es and

many else. 4ong time ago, people used telegrams, codes and letters that can be

weeks to reach other people. 5ow, we can reach our love ones immediately by using

phones no matter how far you are from each other. "e can even see their faces on

the other sides with /6 function, or by web cam via internet. Truly, this technology is

very beneficial to human kind.

+n a nutshell, one can conclude that science and technology are beneficial to

mankind. "hile the disadvantages of science and technology are being #uestion,

people should reali)e that it is people who misused and manipulate science and

technology to something bad. Therefore, awareness has to be cultivated in today's

generation on the harms of science and technology if misused. They should reali)ed

that science and technology will only continue to benefit society because there will

always be new problems that will need something bigger, better or a new cure for.
