The Milky Way is our galaxy. This is a picture of the Milky Way taken from Earth.

This is a picture of the Sun in the Milky Way. The Sun is the center of

the Solar System.

The Solar System is where our planet is. There is no other planet with (comfirmed) life around here.

In the past people thought that the Earth was flat and that it had edges, and you could fall if you advanced too far into the extreme of the Earth.

And other people believed that volcanoes erupted or the Earth moved beacuse their Gods were angry.

Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) thought that the Earth was the center of the Universe. Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) proposed that the Sun was the center of the Universe, not the Earth. Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) improved the telescope and used it to confirmed his idea that the Earth and other planets revolved around the Sun.

In 1946 the Space Age began. USA and Russia started a race to see which country could send the first person into space.

In November 3rd, 1957 Laika was the first living being who traveled into space on the Sputnik II.

Now with technology we can predict the weather and communicate with anybody around the world.
