What is a Comet?
A comet is a huge ‘dirty iceberg’ which moves around the Sun. They are only visible when they get near the hot Sun which makes them melt. When the ice melts the comet releases gas and dust and this streaks out behind and forms a glowing tail which is hundreds of miles long.

What is an Asteroid?
Asteroids are chunks of rock that orbit the Sun, most orbit far away, beyond Mars, but sometimes can come close to the Sun and also Earth. They are pieces of rock left over from the making of planets and moons. Most asteroids are too far away to see clearly without a telescope.

What is a Star?
A star is a giant ball of glowing gas. You can see thousands stars in the sky at night with just your eyes, but these are only the brightest stars. Our Star is the Sun, which you can see during the day time. Astronomers have said that there are some stars our there that are even bigger then our Sun.
