Definitions
Otto Middle SchoolMr. Manzella’s Science
Class
• Crust – the surface of the earth. This includes the ocean floor. It is between 60 and 100 miles thick.
• Mantle – The layer below the earth’s crust. Its temperature varies from 1,800 to 6,200 degrees Fahrenheit. It is more than 1,800 miles thick, and is comprised of Iron, Aluminum, Selenium, and other elements.
