SCHWIND Diagnostic Systems – Safety through diagnosisSCHWIND Diagnostic Systems provide anextensive array of measuring methods forrefractive and therapeutic corneal surgery. They offer you a multitude of possibilitiesfor individual diagnoses – whether cornealand ocular wavefront data or corneal pachymetry. Furthermore, informationwhich can be used for refractive proce-dures, such as the insertion of intraocu-lar lenses or other phakic lenses, is alsoavailable.

SCHWIND CAM software does not missout a single important detail for the cus-tomised treatment planning, which youcan conduct on the SCHWIND diagnosticsystems or directly on the SCHWINDAMARIS laser systems. SCHWIND diagnos-tic systems combine extreme precisionwith a high level of user-friendliness.

The Corneal Wavefront Analyzer offers you all the possibilities of an innovative topo-graphy system. This includes the analysis of corneal wavefront data and thus a particu-larly precise diagnosis of the symptomatic aberrations of the cornea.

region. Only a slight percentage is foundin the lens and vitreous body. The aber-rations are mathematically described bymeans of Zernike polynomials and con-verted into individual, customised ablationprofiles.

PupillometryPupil diameter can be measured underboth scotopic and photopic lighting con-ditions with the aid of the integratedpupillometry function.

Corneal Wavefront Analyzer

Extreme precisionThe Corneal Wavefront Analyzer fulfils theextremely high requirements of precisionwith resolution of one micrometre. Thesmallest of irregularities is identified withthe aid of more than 80,000 analysis points. The topography system is a perfect tool for the preparation of a broad range ofrefractive treatments with the SCHWINDAMARIS laser systems.

The measuring process does not requireany medical pupil dilation – the eye can bemeasured in its natural shape. The CornealWavefront Analyzer also analyses severalimages from one measurement by com-paring them and assists the planning oftreatment by its selection of the best imagequality. As the system is equipped withtwo measuring cones, you will attain highlyreliable results with deep-set as well assmall eyes.

Corneal wavefront The corneal wavefront analysis bySCHWIND has redefined the measure-ment of corneal topography. Thanks tothe ray tracing method it documents thetype and size of all optical errors existingon the anterior corneal surface and allows a high-precision diagnosis for thesuitable choice of treatment. It also pro-vides all the key topographical informa-tion needed to enhance power calculationand selection of contact lenses. A signifi-cantly high percentage of aberrations in the human eye appear in the corneal

Its one-of-a-kind ability is based on ahigh-resolution Hartmann-Shack sensor. With an excellent resolution of 230 µmand 1024 measuring points, the OcularWavefront Analyzer analyses the wave-front aberrations up to the tenth order inunparalleled highly detailed resolutionand precision. Thanks to the integrationof different diagnostic tools in one device, you can measure the ocular wavefront of the whole eye as well as measuring itsaccommodation, the curvature of thecornea and the pupil diameter. Seriesmeasurements can be conducted in both a time-saving and comfortable manner.

Extensive software package The Ocular Wavefront Analyzer's softwareoffers you many analysis options – whetherin tabular form, as a bar diagram or as awavefront map. You can quickly and easilynavigate the menus, obtain detailed infor-mation or a complete overview for theanalysis of individual patient data.

SCHWIND's Ocular Wavefront Analyzer is the latest generation of multi-functionalaberrometers. It analyses the optical characteristics of the entire eye in a single mea-suring process.

Accommodation measurementThe Ocular Wavefront Analyzer impresseswith its objective methodology for themeasurement of an eye's accommodation. In order to calculate the quality of theretinal image, different accommodationconditions are stimulated and measuredon the basis of the ocular wavefront. Youcan also analyse in-depth presbyopiawith the aid of the measurement resultsand evaluate the accommodation effectof intraocular lenses.

Keratometry functionYet another advantage: The integratedkeratometry function gives you the abilityto measure the curvature of the cornea. The keratometry reading is displayed ineither dioptres or millimetres and is pre-sented in a 3D colour graphic. These areimportant parametres for aberration-freeaspheric treatment.

SCHWIND SIRIUS offers the perfect combined solution for refractive and therapeuticcorneal surgery. The highly precise, multi-functional diagnostic device combines a ro-tating Scheimpflug camera and a topography device with a placido disc.

The "2 in 1" system provides you with aquick, three dimensional analysis of theentire cornea and the anterior segment inonly one step. The SCHWIND SIRIUS cap-tures the anterior segment in less thanone second. The extremely high resolutionof only one micrometre and more than100,000 analysis points detect the small-est of irregularities on the anterior cornealsurface and therefore offer an extremelyprecise diagnosis of the aberrations. Thisnon-contact measurement allows you toanalyse the complete corneal wavefront, the topography of the anterior and poste-rior corneal surface (including the tangen-tial and axial curvature) as well as theanterior chamber. In addition, SCHWINDSIRIUS calculates the keratometry read-ings and can be used for power calculationof intraocular and contact lenses.

Corneal WavefrontThe corneal wavefront analysis documentsthe type and size of all existing optical errors on the anterior corneal surface withthe aid of the ray tracing method.

Keratoconus ScreeningSCHWIND SIRIUS aids you with its exten-sive keratoconus screening. The diagnos-tic system offers detailed descriptions of the morphology as well as the classifi-cation of the keratoconus.

Corneal Pachymetry Thanks to the extremely detailed mea-surement results provided by SCHWINDSIRIUS, you have the option to generatean eye's corneal pachymetry map forcorneal transplants. Combined with theablation by the SCHWIND AMARIS lasers, this leads to the best possible results inpachymetry assisted laser keratoplasty(PALK).

PupillometryThe integrated pupillometry captures thepupil diameter either dynamically or statically according to the defined lightingconditions.

Versions of the Combi WavefrontAnalyzer

Ocular Wavefront – Corneal Wavefront = Internal Wavefront

The two versions of the SCHWIND CombiWavefront Analyzer integrate a range ofunique functions and thus contribute tooptimal surgical and diagnostic decision-making.

They combine alternatively the abilities ofthe Ocular Wavefront Analyzer with theabilities of the Corneal Wavefront Analyzeror the SCHWIND SIRIUS diagnostic system.

The extremely high detail resolution pro-vides the foundation for a comprehensiveand particularly precise diagnosis withthe Combi Wavefront Analyzers. More than80,000 analysis points (Corneal Wave-front Analyzer) or 100,000 analysis points(SCHWIND SIRIUS) are taken as the basisfor the corneal wavefront. The Hartmann-Shack sensor in the Ocular WavefrontAnalyzer uses up to 1,024 measuring pointsto analyse ocular wavefront aberrations.

The corneal and ocular wavefront data of a patient can be compared in both com-binations of diagnostic devices. The directcomparison provides information onwhether there is an optical error on thecorneal surface or in the interior of theeye. You can thus identify and evaluate in-ternal aberrations. In addition, the CombiWavefront Analyzer version with SCHWINDSIRIUS provides detailed information onthe entire anterior segment of the eye andall necessary information for a pachymetryassisted laser keratoplasty (PALK) thanksto the Scheimpflug camera.

You simply manage complete data inputand data analysis on one Panel PC. Theresult: a perfect treatment plan tailoredto the needs of the patient and an easy to use, efficient and convenient procedurefor you.
