Summary

The

Beginning.

Te lm starts in the late 1800. Leo is a young 20year old man who has just inherited his athers news pa-

per business in London. Being a young man he is unable totake the pressure o the entire company causing it to loosmoney. Desperate to keep his athers company a oat hetries to nd a story outside o the cramped streets o Lon-

don, and something that will be interesting or the readers.Leo then meets a young boy claiming he was kept hostage

by a orest in Germany and that his ather is still trappedwithin it. Tinking this could be an interesting story Leodecides to take it on.

ravelling all the way to Germany Leo nds himsel ata small town just outside o the Black Forest (Cawl). Finding out

that no one will help him venture into the orest a 19 year old cattle armer takes him up. Her name is Annetteand she too had lost her ather in the orest when he was distraught with the death o his wie. Te pair take ofinto the Black orest and venture round trying to nd clues and acts about these strange disappearances.Suddenly night alls and the two nd themselves running through the orest escaping rom the snappingjaws o wolves. When they lose the wolves they soon nd out that they have lost their way in the ordeal.Remembering what her ather once told her Annette takes them along a small stream. Te stream leadsthem to the Ammersee Lake. Annette tells Leo about the story o a goddess which inhabits within thelake and that she believes that this goddess will help them escape. Sailing out on a small boat Annette

drops her locket into the water thinking that it will cause the goddess to stir and hopeully talk to them.

Te lake suddenly becomes dangerous and waves capsize the boat. Leo and Annette nd themselves sub-merged in the moonlit water and ace to ace with

the goddess known as Nix. Nix explains to them that i they play hergame and win she will let them ree and all the other people she has captured. Knowing that Leos weak-ness is the use of his imagination and that he only believes in the straight facts, Nix lets loose all manners of myths and legendsin which the two must battle their way through to the end. However if they fail she gets the keep them forever and, like she has

with many other travellers, turn them into trees and rocks within their surroundings. aking up Nixsoer o a game they go through the Forest trying to deeat every obstacle in their way. However Leonds this all hard to believe and takes difculty in letting his imagination go. He doesnt believe instories o myths and legends. He must learn to let his imagination run ree! However with the helpo Annette who is a orest girl and has learned many skills o working her way through the orestand deeating anything that comes in her way, she teaches Leo how to protect himsel and how toimagine that anything could happen. Tey have three myths and legend which they must deeat.

Te rst one is to escape a colony o airies which kidnap them and imprison them. Te second isthe witch and her candy and everything sweet house. (Hansel and Gretel) Lastly they must deeat

the big bad wol who kidnaps Annette. Leo must deeat the wol all on his own. Finally managing tolet his imagination run ree Leo deeats the wol in a erocious battle.

With Annette back they return to the lake with one o thewolves teeth and drop it into the lake. Angered that theyhave completed her game Nix battles with Leo in a t orage but with Annettes bow and arrows Leo pierces Nixin the heart, causing a mass light to shine across the lake

and orest. When the light hits trees and rocks theyslowly turn back into the people that Nix has kept prison-er. Including Annettes ather and the lost boys ather. Leoand Annette return to London with the lost boys ather to

reunite them together. Te end scene is a customer run-ning into Leos ofce explaining another myth which has

come true and i they could help them.

SCRIPT.The

Scene- Meeting the orest guardian Nix at the Ammersee lake.

Te scene starts with Leo and Annette walking through the orest and suddenlyemerging to a clearing. In the middle is a vast lake lit by moonlight with the edges

rayed with trees and rocks and pebble beach.

Walking through the orest. Leo is lagging behind and a bit bored and tired.

Speaks in a sarcastic manner. Annette is striding ahead always looking around her

o any possible danger. From her body language you can tell she is nervous as totheir ware bouts.

Leo;I cant believe you got us lost in this damn death trap o a orest, I thought Ihad ull understanding that you knew were we....

Annette:shh!

Leo: (a bit taken aback).....I say! Dont shh me! You country olk are unbelievablyrude,

I hope you know that!

Annette: (orceully) PLEASE! Be quite (nervously looks around her).......werebeing watched.....(to hersel).....we must be close.

Leo looks around him awkwardly and notices that Annette is a bit ahead o him andpanics a little and runs over to catch up.

Leo:Wait!

Annette suddenly turns round causing Leo to bump into her. She gives him an an-

noyed and angry glance!

Leo: (raising his hands apologetically whilst trying to keep eye sight with her, butlooks away due to nervs) ..Sorry, sorry didnt mean too.... staying quite!

Annette turns away and carries on walking with Leo closely behind. Suddenly theysee the clearing ahead and when they eventually reach it they are amazed with the

view.

Leo:(A bit lost or words)...Oh my word...(akes out note pad and startssketching)...Ive only ever seen pictures o such things in my athers...Well;

I suppose its now my art collection.

Annette still silent makes her way down towards the shore

Leo:(as i just woken up rom a dream state due to the beauty o the surround-ings)Hey wait Annette...Annette!..where are you going? ...Why are we here? I

thought...

Annette gives him the shut up glance and indicates he stays close. Leo makes his

way over to her.

Annette: My ather once told me o this place, and that I should never venturehere unless it was really needed. He says that the orest guardian...

Leo:(Leo stops walking)Forest guardian?...Listen Annette I really cant be lis-tening to your airy stories, I have a business to run and I cant be running roundin the woods listening to childrens stories. Now can we leave and try and nd our

way back! I havent got my story and Im tired and....

Annette:..NO now you listen to me! I you want to escape then you must trust meand my apparent airy tales!

Leo:..ne! Have it your way although I wouldnt be in this situation i you didntdecide to take a detour!

Annette: Detour! I was saving your lie! (NOE; they were ambushed bywolves causing them to run away and getting lost)...Look, can I please nish what

I was trying to say!?

Leo gestures her to carry on. Annette turns round and carries on walking closely

ollowed by Leo. Who decides to note down in his notebook what Annette is

about to say

Annette: Te orest guardian, or by her name Nix, controls all o the or-est. What you could say is a sort o Mother Nature gure. Te only way we cannd our way back home is to ask her or sae passage. However, she is known

or enjoying games and rom what I hear she tends to play dirty. ( Looks aroundher)Many people have gone missing in this orest, believed to have lost a los-

ing game......Te only person known to have escaped her is the lost boy you havecome to seek a story on. (Looks back to Leo who is not sure what to think. She

turns away and carries on)

Leo:..wellll I havent got much o a gripping story on the lost boy as such, but, I supposethe story o a crazy local orest girl who believes in myths and legends could be appealing

to the readers! ...Please, (gestures her to carry on)

Annette stops clenches her sts. She carries on walking stiy still with clenched sts. Leo

ollows

Annette: Youre intolerable

Leo: (shyly talking into his note pad but still slightly heard over it)...yeh, well...Im in thenewspaper business...its what we do...

Tey both walk in silence till they reach the edge o the lake. Annette looks round as i

trying to nd something. Leo ollows her gaze, and then looks out to the lake.

Leo: So where is you apparent goddess, guardian? All I see is water.

Annette: Im not too sure, all I know is that theres a boat and that you have to row tothe centre o the lake.

Leo: Tats it? You just row out and hope or the best?

Annette:(ignoring Leo looks round till she nds an old wooded row boat)Aha! I knewId nd it. Come help me push it out.

Leo looks rom Annette to the boat and back in a unsure way. Annette makes her way overcausing Leo to ollow whilst sliding his notepad and pen into his pocket.

When they both reach the boat they both push against it till it starts to bob in the shal-low water. Annette indicates Leo to jump in the boat while she pushes o and jumps in

hersel. Leo settles down on the seat only to discover Annette shoving two oars into his

hands.

Annette: come on, its time you got your hands dirty.

Leo: What!...you know what, ne; I shall be the gentle man!

Annette goes to the ront o the bo at with a little smirk on her ace.

When they reach the centre o the lake Leo turns round to nd Annette taking o a smalllocket rom around her neck which was hidden under her dress.

Annette: Te only way that you can talk with nix is by giving something pre-cious and dropping it in the water. It was believed that Te rst person to meet

nix dropped their wedding ring into the lake by accident and nix swam up to giveit back, but only i they played her game. Its now become a ritual or the lost to

drop something dear to them in hope that she will come and give it back. (Lifs uplocket)My mothers locket, given to me afer she died.

And with that Annette drops the locket into the water. Te pair o them lean overthe side as they watch the locket spiral down into the depths. Leo suddenly looks

over to Annette

Leo: Wait, what do you mean by she swam up?

Annette turns to answer back when suddenly they notice the water turn very dark,

the boat lurches to the side causing them to all back in the boat, they look out tothe lake and see the water getting rough and dangerous. Te boat starts to sway

viciously

Leo: ANNEE!!??

Annette:(shouting over the waves)just go with it! When the boat sinks...

Leo: (panicked)WHEN HE BOA WHA!!??? Annette Ive played along withyour game, and this has gone ar...

With a sudden lurch the boat turns over and capsizes throwing the two into the

dark water.Under the water everything looks calm but you see Leo and Annette swaying back

and orth with the current. Leo tries to swim over to Annette but he cant move

he looks over to her, panic in his ace. But Annette is calm aced, staring into thedark water ahead o her. Leo ollows her gaze and sees a black shadow ahead o

them. Leo panics and starts to eel like hes drowning and starts to try and swimaway but he still cant move. Ten with exhaustion he goes a bit limp and sways

with the current. He closes his eyes and turns to look at Annette but when he

turns to look at her and starts to open his eyes, the dark gure is coming closer.Wide eyed now he steadies himsel or whats ahead o them.

Ten out o the darkness a mermaid appears, holding out her hand and dangling

rom it, chain wrapped round her ngers is Annettes locket. Sofly looking atthem both in the eyes the gure speaks.

Nix: (soothingly with a smirk on her ace) So...you two got a bit lost, how aboutwe play a little game?

With these two images that I created

used the same drawing style as the tra-

ditional art work but used my own use

o colour and shading.

The black and white image was done completely

by accident, when I scanned it through I orgot

to put it on colour.........I think it looks very in-

teresting in black and white. And it made me

wonder whether or not to turn it into a blackand white lm. but then Iremembered my audi-

ence and children generally dont like black and

white lms. they love colour!

Backgrounds.

For my backgrounds I wanted to have two backgrounds

showing the lake and two images o inside the Black For-est

For the Ammersee lake the scene is set at night, hence the

darkend images. The water will be animated to look uid

and ree, with the use o very dark blue lines and Gold

For these backgrounds I drew them rom within the Black

orest and experimented with the use o colour and Black,

White (grey)

I ound the the bottom image imcredibly striking

and Fairly dream like. So decided to put this in as a back-

ground or a dream scene o leos

Character designs.

The

Main character- News paper proprietor

Name- Leo

Age- 21

Features- Thine and worn out. Hazel eyes with dark brown hair. Walks

in an awkward ashion (hands in pockets.) Walks with a steady pace and

looks airly hidden. But as the lm progresses his hands come out o his

pockets and his posture looks more supirior and proud.

Features- Comes across as very hidden and closed up but when his con-

dence starts to grow, he starts to let his guard down to show a more excit-

ing unny character. Hes also incredibly intelligent, but nds it hard to lethis imagination go. Being in the newspaper indusrty he has learnt that he

must stick to the truth and cant aford to use his imagination and invent

new thing.

Features - Red headed with one blue and one green eye, Athletic buil. Fi-esty and brave hearted.

Character - Specialist tracker/hunrter/survivalist (taught hersel) Walks

with caution when in the woods, a bit wol like, But in the town shes

very timid and eels a bit o a loner. Everyone thinks oer her as a wild

child,

Character - Forest water spirit/ goddess.

Name - Nix

Age - Unknown.

Feautures - Female water spirit a sort o mother nature g-ure towards the orest. According to legends, all emale water

spirits has a beautiul womans upper body, and on the lower

hal was a long sh tail (otherwise known as a mermaid)

Character - She is a kind hearted creature at rst but when

you start to annoy her or beat her in her own games she gets

anry and viscious. She then goes heartless and toys with peo-ple. A cat and mouse efect.

beginning, middle and end o this eature lm.For instance the rst image shows Leo and Annette being

chased by wolves causing them to loose their way and get

they get very lost in the vast orest.

The second image shows Nix watching Leo and Annette go-

ing through the Black Forest deeating all the obsticles that

she puts in their way so that they dont win.The last image shows Leo caught inbetween Nix and

Annette resembling Myth (Nix) and Legend (Annette)
