Create a great day!
We are all gearing up for the Super Bowl Sunday in hopes that Cam, Luke, and the boys bring home the Lombardi Trophy for Super Bowl 50 back to NC for the first time! If you are interested in purchasing a Super Bowl 50 program, please click HERE and follow the prompts. This company has partnered with CMS PTA to provide a portion of the proceeds from each program purchased back to schools. The books will be delivered next week to schools.
We have a busy February ahead with a variety of events including "Bring your family to school week." Please look for a packet of information coming home on Monday on how your family can participate in these events. Report cards and MAP reports were sent home on Wednesday. If you have questions about MAP, please refer to our website for documents that explain the report. Finally, we are not having a
Valentines Dance this year due to lack of interest in past years, but our Arts Booster will be hosting a spring dance in March (specific information will be shared soon).
CMS is currently seeking input from parents regarding the future of student assignment. Please refer to the article below to access the online survey.
Please make your thoughts known
The School Board is seeking input from parents, CMS employees and other Mecklenburg County residents to help inform how CMS students are assigned to schools.
The survey is designed to gain valuable feedback on what's important to community members when considering their child's education or public education overall.
The survey is part of the Board's comprehensive student assignment review process which started in February 2015 and is expected to continue throughout the year.
Maximizing academic achievement by every student in every school is our core mission. The student assignment process is our opportunity to rethink how we can provide families with greater choices to satisfy the unique interests and aspirations of our students as we prepare them to become future leaders in our communities, businesses and workplaces.
Survey results will be used to inform any changes to the district's student assignment plan, which would take effect in the 2017-2018 school year.
The success of our public schools impacts all of us. That's why we want anyone interested in the success of our public schools - people across all areas of our county -- to participate in the survey.
· Survey closes February 22nd. Details:
The online survey can be taken on any computer or mobile device. Simply go to the CMS website and click on the Student Assignment Survey link at the top of the homepage. You can also access the survey on any school website.
The online survey can be taken in English or Spanish.
Individual paper copies in other languages will be made available upon request.
Chocolate roses are back!
The National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring our chocolate rose sale from February 8th - 12th, just in time for Valentine's Day.

For delivery purposes, parents and students must have the full name of the person receiving the rose(s), as well as the name of the recipient's Red Block teacher when they make their purchase.
A portion of the proceeds will once again be donated to the American Cancer Society.
