It’s the LAW. GREAT!

But for school children like her …

LIBRARIES ARE

OPTIONAL

The LAW does not require LIBRARIES in schools.

Well, DOUBLE duh!

NOW MORE THAN EVER Children need to read.

BECAUSE DISTRACTIONS

ARE EVERYWHERE.

But There’s so much to do. What’s the point of reading?

WHY READ?

Because in the pages of a book you can be ANYBODY.

Because the words that build the story will become YOURS, to build your LIFE.

READ not for happy endings but for new beginnings. You’re just beginning yourself, and you could use a MAP.

Because one of these days you’re going to get out of this town, and go everywhere and meet everybody and you want to be READY.

READ, and you’re never going to run out of material.

EVERY journey begins in the LIBRARY and you’d better start packing.

Reading in Schools •  That one of the Government's priorities is

for all children to read daily for pleasure

•  That every school should have a well-stocked library

•  That research shows that children who have access to a school library and who read for pleasure reach higher levels of attainment in all subjects

•  That the best way to encourage children to read for pleasure is by free voluntary reading

•  Calls on the Government to continue to take all necessary steps to encourage school libraries.
