Schoology allows… for differentiated instruction.
for a consistently informed learning environment.
all students to access the content.
for students to work independently at their own pace.
for students to collaborate on their learning.
Schoology is the engine toward proficiency!
Change has to happen…
“People are not single-method learners!” (Elliot Masie)
“If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.” (John Dewey)
As teachers and students, we are all nonpareils and therefore should not teach nor learn in a pareil instructional model.
I want to grow with the change, not behind it.
Proficiency in mind…

CAFES (adapted model) Comprehension
I can understand the vocabulary, grammar, and culture.

appropriately.
Fluency I can read and speak French with accuracy
and expression.
Expression/Expand Vocabulary I can demonstrate and confirm my
learning with others.
Self-Evaluation I can work independently and
collaboratively while remaining on task.
A “CAFES” day… Students walk in and complete SMWYK
Students partner up to discuss previous night’s homework or task, practice their vocabulary, etc. During this time, I quickly group the SMWYK into three categories:
High, Mid, Low.
Students/Teacher participate in “data analysis.” What is our charge? What is our goal for the day?
Repetitions, TPR, TPRS, Q&A, whole-group collaborative activity to reactivate and refine skills, vocabulary, etc.
Au café!! Students begin CAFES rotations. Students self-manage, work
together, work independently, and work small group or one-on-one with the teacher.
Exit: Students complete a SMWYK (verify their learning)
What do the students think? When somebody asks me what cafes are I would tell them it's a time of French class
where we are set out to do multiple tasks by ourselves. (KM)
Some good things about cafes are that you can get more done because your working at your own pace.
i wood say that is a easy way to learn French (HL)
I would tell them it was a learning target. they set learning targets so you can improve (KK)
I would say that it is about learning and the teacher seeing how good you are learning. (KS)
If someone asked me what CAFES were I would say that they are an accidemic curriculum that teaches you fluent forgien language and the verbs that you need to know whit comprehension. (PD)
It's a type of learning that let's students gradually learn at their own pace. (KR)
PS some of the videos are really boring (FF)
