NAME,ORIGIN, LOCATION

The school’s name is La Fayette.It is a college and high school.La Fayette comes from the name of the General La Fayette :he was a famous general who participated in the American war of Independence in 1776 and the French Revolution in 1789.He was born near Brioude.Brioude is at the centre of France.

THE HEADMASTER (ELISABELLE AND CHLOÉ)

In our school, we have a headmaster whose name is Mister Jayer. We have a deputy-head too. Her name is Mrs Kurer. There are around twenty-six teachers in the secondary school and around forty-five teachers in the high school. The headmaster : The deputy-head :

In our school, we haven’t got a uniform . We usually wear jeans , tracksuits and

sweaters. There are about four hundred and fifty

pupils from 1st to 4th year in the secondary school aged 11 to 16 years old.

At the end of the fourth year, they sit an important exam (Brevet des collèges/GCSE) in French , Maths ,History, Arts and English.

There is also a boarding school.

THE ENGLISH CLASSES

In our school we have two English classes: Euro class and standard English class. Our English teachers’ names are Mrs Carrion and Mrs Chambon.We have five hours of English class a week. In Euro class we create many presentations on the computer and we also do oral and written exercises. In standard English class we do activities from the exercise book and we often have written tests. In Euro class there are approximatively twenty-five pupils. In standard English class there are twenty-eight pupils. In Euro class we use the etwinning site to exchange different interesting things with our Scottish and Greek penpals. In standard English class we use a book:  Step In .

The teacher’s name is MRS Chambon .We have got 5 hours of classes in classroom number 118 .During our English lessons , we sometimes watch videos, listen to conversations, act out dialogues… We have homework to do as well.

In the ICT class we have computers.The teacher’s name is M.Allezard.We have one hour and a half of ICT in the week.We study the design of apartments.There are twenty of us.

THE SCHOOL LIBRARY.We have a School Library.It’s opposite the staff room on the first floor.It’s number 15.Mrs Vue supervises the School Library.It’s a place where we have different books : Novels , Comic books, Fiction books, Biographies, School books, Newspapers and Catalogues…Also we have computers.We can relax by reading.We can go to the School Library when we have a free period or a break. We can also borrow things at a given moment. ( Exept Comic books)

•We have got eleven or twelve subjects because some pupils have got an optional subject.•We work about thirty hours a week.•Some pupils have got more English classes than the others because they have chosen an English option.•On Mondays, we start school at eight o’clock and we finish school at four o’clock.•On Fridays, we start school at half past eight and we finish school at five o’clock.•We prefer Thursdays because there are subjects we like and Mondays because we haven’t got a lot of classes.•In our class, the pupils learn Spanish, Italian or German, but nobody learns Latin.

In this section, there are handball and gymnastics.With our sports teacher, we can do climbing, judo, athletics, badminton and relay race.In the Sports Association, there is skiing, running, dance, gymnastics, hand-ball, climbing, cross country, and multi-activities. Loïse et Manon

In sport classes , we work three hours a week .

We go to the swiming-pool and climbing wall .

There are a swiming-pool and gymnasium .

CLUBS IN LAFAYETTE SCHOOL

The Café Lecture is a café where we can read books and talk about them once a term at 5:45 until 7pm.

In the Choir, we sing carols once a week on Tuesday at 4 pm.

The pop art group is on Tuesday at 1 o’clock and 2 o’clock. We make geometrical drawings.

We can go to the canteen with a card at 11.30 am . It closes at 1.30 pm . The

menu is variable and sometimes we have a special menu. At the canteen we can

have what we like and we can choose our table. The food is not very good. The

canteen is situated behind the playground next to the medical room. After eating, we

can go into the playground or to the student common room. In the student

common room, There are a table tennis table , table football, and sofas and a TV

set. We can do what we want but they don’t like when we eat there.
