Dear Parents and Carers, Half way through the term! We have had a busy start and there are still many more events planned for the next few weeks leading up to Easter holidays. MEDICATION This week we had a stocktake of our first aid cupboard. Please provide up to date medication and action plans, if needed. This is a good time to remind all parents and caregivers to make sure if your child needs to take medication at school you need to provide consent and directions with the medication. This includes paracetamol. Paracetamol will no longer be available unless you have provided your own medicine with signed consent. This cannot be kept in your childs bag. Forms can be obtained from the office. Although we do not have any students diagnosed with peanut allergies, we would like to be especially careful and ask all parents to avoid nuts for a snack during the school day, as there may be cases undiagnosed. SCHOOL TOURS Next week we have our school tours commencing. Please, if you know of any preschoolers starting school next year, can you approach them and see if they know about these tours. They should have received a leaflet in their letterbox. If not we have some spares at the office. Tour dates and times are: Wednesday 11 th March at 2pm and Friday 13 th March at 10am. SYDNEY NORTH ZONE SWIMMING Next Tuesday is our Zone Swimming Carnival which will be held at Sydney Olympic Park. Sarah will be representing Cowan in 50 metre freestyle and backstroke. Good Luck Sarah, we will be cheering you on. SCOPE IT Scope IT has started for all our students and they are thoroughly enjoying the lessons. These lessons will continue on every second Tuesday (Week 8 and 10) and on one Friday (Week 10) until the end of term. If you are claiming some of the cost by using the Creative Kids voucher, then Monday is the last day. Harmony Week & National Day of Action Against Bullying & Violence… Week 8 is Harmony Week: Everyone Belongs—celebrating cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. To embrace the theme, Picture a World in Harmony, and that Everyone Belongs, our students will engage in class focussed activities during Week 8.

On this Thursday we will also mark the National Day of Action Against Bullying & Violence, which theme is—Take Action Together. Everyone has a role to play in saying Bullying, No Way! Our students will be involved in lessons and activities around this subject. For further information, go to: https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/NationalDay.

School Photos… A reminder that our School Photos date is Thursday 2nd April. Photo packages and all relevant information have been sent home. Sibling envelopes are available from the school office.

Easter/Grandparents’ Day Celebration 2020… The students and staff are excited to stage our Easter and Grandparents’ Day on Wednesday 8th April. The students will be sending their invitations to their grandparents next week.

There is an exciting new Easter competition for everyone to enter—Eggcharacters. Create a character from a blown or hard-boiled egg. Paint and decorate it and place it in a scene of your choice. Entries due in on Friday 3rd April to the Library. For more information on blowing out the contents of an egg, go to: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/how-blow-eggs.

Our celebrations will commence at 9.00am with our annual Hat Parade and assembly. The categories to enter will be: Easter, Environmentally Friendly, Edible and Eggstravagant. Following our assembly we invite all parents and grandparents to a delicious morning tea.

At the conclusion of morning tea all grandparents will be joining their grandchildren in a rotation of fun activities until lunch time. Details to follow.

Kinders for 2021… Next year seems a long way away, however, if you have a child starting school next year, or know of any potential school-starters for 2021 in our community, please let us know. We would like to personally invite them to attend our celebrations happening this year.

Tissues… Thank you to our families who have already supplied tissues. If you have not already done so, please supply a box of tissues for your child’s classroom. Also, if possible, a packet of antiseptic/baby wipes, or hand sanitiser would be appreciated. This does not need to be an expensive brand, just the ‘no frills’ variety is fine. These can be left with your child’s teacher or at the school office. Thank you for your cooperation.

Keep trying and making improvements as you practice

and learn in school work, sport etc.

Persevere—it’s about hard work and patience, not giving

up, trying again and again. Practise perseverance by

trying hard at difficult tasks and not giving up when

something is difficult.

Respect—CARE for people, property & the environment:

When we show that we care for someone or something, we

give it our close attention and concern and we do things that

show that we care. Doing this shows that we have respect.
