1.0 INTRODUCTIONI welcome you all to this year’s PTA Annual General Meeting. Thank you for coming. This is the second AGM I am attending as Headteacher of this school.

I wish to express my gratitude to you all for the support you have given me in the two years I have been here. We share the credit for what has been achieved. 304/20/23

This AGM is a special one, in that we are electing a new PTA Executive committee. The outgoing executive committee has been very supportive to our administration and that explains why we have been able to achieve so much in a short time.

In a special way I thank the Chairman, Dr. Timothy Mutesasira for his guidance and support. Your executive Committee takes credit for the tremendous improvement in the teachers’ welfare, rapid infrastructural development and general improvement of the teaching and learning environment.

 Specific projects undertaken by the PTA Executive include:

1. Completion and commissioning of the A-Level Girls Dormitory.

2. Start of the classroom Block.3. Extension of the water supply and

rehabilitation of houses in the Teachers’ village.

We have tried to mitigate the effects of increased enrolment by recruiting more teachers, sensitizing ourselves about strategies of handling larger numbers and expansion of accommodation facilities.

The medium term plans are to have more classrooms, expansion of the dining hall, expansion of the sports facilities and the sick bay.

Meals- The school continues to provide a balanced diet with a variety of foodstuffs like Matooke, Cassava, sweet potatoes, posho, beans, beef, fruits and eggs on Sunday.

Uniform- The school has provided all the uniforms that are due to the students. There are however some few students who have trimmed the size of trousers, sweaters, shirts and skirts. Once they are found, the trimmed uniform is confiscated and they are asked to go home and pick money for a new uniform. 

Accommodation – The improvement of the accommodation facilities is an on-going exercise. 04/20/23 8

Girls’ End- Additional walkways, drainage channels, and washing bays have been put in place. Bathrooms have been repaired. The HSC Girls dormitory was completed and commissioned on 4th August 2014 by the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda , the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga. It was named “Prof Victoria Nakiboneka Mwaka”.

Boys’ End- A septic tank for the water borne toilets is to be constructed next term. A bathroom block for senior one and two is to be constructed starting this term. 904/20/23

Accommodation- The accommodation of teachers needs serious improvement in both quality and quantity. Because of inadequate housing, the school is renting houses for some teachers. Water and Sanitation – The improvements done have included;Construction of waterborne toilets in the teachers’ village.Completion of the extension of water supply to the teachers’ village.

Capacity buildingThe staff has had two workshops since the last PTA Executive Committee meeting. These were facilitated by Mrs. Regina Laboke (Principal, Mount olives College, Kakiri , MOCK).They addressed the following topics:- School improvement.Planning.Monitoring.Evaluation.Reviewing. 04/20/23 13

Mr. John Senteza the Head of Chemistry Department, flew to Nairobi for a three weeks Third Country training Programme (TCTP) at Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA). He is one of the 60 participants from all over Africa.

Mr. Stuart Mukiibi, a Chemistry teacher won a Master of Science (Chemistry) scholarship from the Belgium government at Makerere University. An MOU bonding him to serve Ndejje Senior Secondary School for three years after completing the course was signed by the school and the Ministry of Education and Sports. 1404/20/23

Promotion Term-this term is a promotional term and students have been constantly reminded of the promotional boundaries:-

It is our aspiration to improve our academic performance in the UNEB Examinations every year.

The UCE and UACE 2013 results were however below our expectations. We have put in place strategies to have better results in 2014 which include: 2104/20/23

Teaching – The school Administration has ensured that there is regular and effective teaching closely monitored by the Headteacher and the DOS’s office. The Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum) has monitored syllabus coverage in all classes and ensured that it is covered. Assessment- The usual agreed upon examinations and tests have been conducted. So far they have done BOT, Bi-weekly and topical tests in candidate classes. The MOT are being done over the weekends starting 20th September, 2014. Post Mock ExaminationsThe candidates have been exposed to a number of examination sets from different sources which has built their confidence as they appreciate the different ways of setting questions on the same topics. 2204/20/23

Topical Tests – We have adopted a revision strategy of topical tests which are administered on a regular basis, marked and feedback given as they discuss the answers. Extended reading after prep.The boys have been asked to use the Senior four block for their extended reading, while the girls use the dining hall and study room.

Regular workshops and seminars both external and internal.Students have been encouraged to form discussion groups.Networking with other schools at departmental level. 2304/20/23

5.0 CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Sports – The school has been involved in a number of sports events throughout the year. Some of the achievements include:National Champions of U-16 Basketball (Boys).National Runners up U-16 Basketball (Girls).Luweero District champions for Chess.Luweero District Basketball champions for both boys and girls.Luweero District Athletics Champions.The school joined the National Women Cricket Lesage. 2404/20/23

The Uganda Cricket Association sponsored interhouse cricket competitions which were won by Mboya House. We express our gratitude to UCA for its support of cricket in the school through provision of equipment, training and sponsoring competitions.

Clubs, Societies and Associations•A number of clubs have been very active this year including interact club, debating club, writers’ club, wildlife club, geography club and café scientifique.

Conferences, Seminars & WorkshopsASSHU AGMThe Headmaster attended the AGM of the Association of Secondary School Headteachers of Uganda held on the 21st and 22nd August, 2014 at Jinja Senior Secondary School. It was also the occasion for bidding farewell to the retired MOES officials who included:-Mr. Francis Xavier Lubanga – former Permanent Secretary.Mr. John Mary Agaba- former Commissioner, Secondary Education.Mr. Francis Uma Agula- former Ag. Commissioner, Secondary Education.Mrs. Florence Musinguzi- former Principal Education Officer.They were happy with the gesture of the Headteachers. The Headmaster was the Chief organizer in his capacity as the Chairman of the ASSHU Welfare Committee. Judith Babirye (OG Ndejje ) was the Chief entertainer. 2604/20/23

Provincial Assembly of the Church of Uganda.Ndejje Senior Secondary School was

privileged to have two delegates in the 22nd Provincial Assembly of the Church of Uganda held at Uganda Christian University Mukono. The assembly has 190 members. The

Headmaster represents the Laity of West Buganda Diocese and Rev. Can. Geoffrey Muwanguzi represents the clergy of Luweero Diocese.

6.0 MAJOR EVENTS Dr. Charles Kahigiriza , Mr. Musoke Stephen, Ms.

Zalwango Immaculate and Kawenja Charlyn S.3 visited the Priory School in the UK from 10th March to 19th March, 2014.

We hosted the staff of Namagabi Senior Secondary School on Saturday 22nd March, 2014 and played friendly matches in Volleyball, Netball and Football.

Sports Day – We held our Sports day on 21st June, 2014. The Chief Guest was Mr. Nsumba Lyazzi- the Commissioner – Private Secondary Schools Ministry of Education & Sports. Kabalega House were the overall winners followed by Muyingo House. 

S.3 Parents Meeting was held on 2nd July, 2014 and the turn up was good. 2804/20/23

Bishop’s Pastoral visit. – The Rt. Reverend Bishop Evans Mukasa Kisekka paid a pastoral visit to the school on 29th June, 2014. He confirmed 50 students into the Christian faith and the school bid farewell to him.

The Headteacher attended the conference of the Commonwealth Council of Education Administrators and Managers between 4th June and 14th June, 2014 at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada. It was very enriching.

Members of Board of Governors and PTA delivered Ettofali to the Katikkiro of Buganda Shs 3,703,300/= on 17th June, 2014.

Thanksgiving/Dedication service for candidates will be on Sunday 5th October, 2014 at 8:00 am.

Meeting parents of S2 students /Careers talk will be on Wednesday 8th October, 2014 at 2:00 pm. 2904/20/23

Briefing of UCE candidates will be on 10th October, 2014 while briefing for UACE candidates will be on 7th November, 2014.

NOSA Annual General Meeting will take place on 11th October, 2014 at school.

Visitation day will take place on Sunday 2nd November, 2014 at 11.00 am.

End of Term is on 4th December, 2014 at 11:00 am. 3004/20/23

7.0 PROJECTSClassroom Block/Laboratory Block In December, 2013 the construction of a four-level classroom/Laboratory block started. The facility is to house 12 classrooms, two big science laboratories, eight offices and water borne toilets on each floor. The ground floor of the superstructure has been completed. Construction is to resume soon after earmarking funds for it. Administration BlockThe construction of a three-level Administration Block started in February 2014. The first floor has been completed and construction is still on-going. 3104/20/23

Extension of the Dining HallThe roofing of the Dining Hall extension is complete and work on the floor is on-going.Toilets and bathrooms in the Teachers’ village

The structure is now at wall plate level. The A-Level Girls’ DormitoryThe work was completed and the building commissioned by the Speaker of Uganda parliament , Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga on 4th August, 2014. The four-level facility accommodates all the S5 and S6 girls. 3204/20/23

8.0 VISITORSThe school was privileged to host the under listed personalities among the many high profile guests:- The Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga – the Speaker of Uganda parliament.Hon. Dr. Edward Khiddu Makubuya the Member of Parliament, Katikamu South Constituency.Hon. Brenda Nabukenya, Woman MP for Luweero District.Rt. Rev. 9.0 PRIORITIES FOR 2015We plan to undertake the following projects for the year 2015;Construction of a new classroom/laboratory block.Dining hall extension.Sick bay extension.Acquire more chapel pews.Fitting property /book shelves in the dormitories.Furnishing the girls’ study room.Install solar energy in the library and dormitories.
