COMPONENT I: COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT (CNA)

DATA REVIEWED & ANALYZED:

Based on your schools NSPF results, identify what additional data have been reviewed and analyzed in development of the SPP.

School Data For General Education Including FRL English Language Learner (ELL) Data Special Education Data

Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF)Stakeholder Survey Information NA NANA NA NANA NA NANA NA NAOther: ESD Report Other: ESD Report Other: ESD ReportOther: Community Meetings Other: Other:

Summary Statement: Please provide a brief description for how the analyzed data will impact your Inquiry and Action Planning process.Proficiency scores have not increased due to registering larger numbers of low-skilled credit deficient students. Additionally, the majority of our students are 12th grade or above and are no longer included in the cohort report. We want to continue to serve students who have no other options for a quality high school education. The majority of our students do not fit into the graduation formula. Based on comparisons between the 2013 and 2014 NSPF, the average daily attendance decreased from 72% to 66.4% between 2013-2014. For 2014-2015 attendance further decreased from 66.4% to 64%. The average daily attendance continues to decrease because changes in attendance practices required the school to maintain students on the roll counts even when students are no longer present or are attending sporadically. According to the End Of Year Report for ESD Schools, in 2013, 15 students qualified for the Millennium scholarship, 906 students were enrolled, and 93 students graduated. In 2014, there were 931 students enrolled, 4 students qualified for the Millennium scholarship, and 120 students graduated. According to the 2015 End-of-Year Report, the ELL population increased from 115 to 303 and the population of IEP students increased from 95 to 141 students between 2013-2014. This analyzed data will drive the action steps and inquiry process for the School Performance Plan. Additionally, DRHS invited community stakeholders on two separate occasions, 7/25/15 and 8/12/15 respectively, to come and communicate their ideas, insights and overall perspective about the Victory school allocation. Through the use of a DRHS-created survey tool the community members in attendance were asked to provide feedback related to the new information that they had been given. The survey tool responses from six different stakeholders groups all helped to promote the final outline for the Victory school allocation. Insights obtained from the surveys included the need to support youth between 17-21 who are aging out of the foster care system and the lack of essential basic entry level job skills. Further, DRHS conducted additional teacher and staff surveys and a comprehensive review of the NHSPE performance results and Infinite Campus attendance reports to identify additional needs in areas like the lack of consistent attendance, fundamental reading and math skills, family disruptions and responsibilities, too. Additionally, DRHS conducted a student survey that revealed identified needs in transportation, individualized tutoring and proficiency preparation.

COMPONENT II: Inquiry Process & Action Plan Design- Priority Need/Goal 1

Based on the CNA, identify all that apply:☑ General Education ☑ FRL ☑ ELL ☑ IEP ☐ Other

Priority Need/Goal 1:Increase the number of standard diploma graduates for the 2016-2017 school year.

Root Causes:Many students enroll in Desert Rose HS credit deficient due to attendance and academic reasons and are unable to graduate with their 4 year cohort. Tier 1 instruction needs to be more closely aligned to the Nevada Academic Content Standards to help the students catch up and graduate in their cohort.

Measurable Objective 1:Increase the percent of students credit sufficient in math by 5% from 12% to 17% by June 2017 as measured by the High School Cohort Visualization Tool.

Measurable Objective 2:Increase the percent of students credit sufficient in ELA by 5% from 21% to 26% by June 2017 as measured by the the High School Cohort Visualization Tool.

Measurable Objective 3:Increase the percent of regular cohort students credit sufficient from 1% to 5% by 2017 as measured by the High School Cohort Visualization Tool.

COMPONENT IV: REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS:

Title I Schools operating a Schoolwide Program must complete Items 1 through 5 on this page.

1. Describe the school's strategies to attract effective, highly-qualified teachers to your school.Well-articulated mission to provide educational opportunities for a culturally diverse student body in school and beyond. Administration recruits staff who fit the school's mission. Teachers and other staff members also recruit through word of mouth. Teacher turnover is not a concern at Desert Rose HS. The Human Resource Department is on the lookout for teachers who fit the mission of Desert Rose. We also look for multiple backgrounds in candidates.

 2. Describe the school's strategies to increase family engagement in accordance with Section 1118 of NCLB (see resource link), such as family literacy services and the provision to parents on how the school will share academic information in a language they understand. We provide a series of family activities, including Harvest Fest, and the Open House. In addition, we have family members on the Title I committee and a financial aid workshop. All information is delivered in English and Spanish. Notifications for parents regarding school events, policies, and grades are posted on the website and Infinite Campus. There are regular announcements each morning.

 3. Describe the school's plans for transition and articulation between school programs (ie: assisting preschool children from early childhood programs such as Head Start, Even Start, or a state-run preschool program to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle to high school, etc.).As students finish task sheets, they move into new classes. Transitions are constant at Desert Rose. Upon exhibiting competency through the completion of task sheets, students are self pacing through the curriculum that allow them to make major moves through the courses and to college, military, or work. Financial aid workshops, visits to campuses, and schoolwide career days are offered throughout the year to advertise options for college and career.

 4. Identify the measures that include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments.Teachers make daily decisions about instruction based on assessment data. They deliver lessons based on the assessment data. PLC's take place to incorporate effective strategies that are revealed through assessment data.

 5. Provide assurance that federal, state, and local services are coordinated and integrated into the school improvement effortsThe administration assures that services at all levels are integrated and included in the school improvement plan.
