Sport Management

Sport Management is an exciting degree that will help you develop your career in the sport industry. It has been designed to meet the industry’s need for well-qualified managers who can combine management and financial skills with specialist knowledge of sport -The programme has strong links with the sport management sector and is delivered by tutors with industry experience, with a track record of applying management theory to practice. Accreditation is planned through the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity.

Gaining this degree will prepare you for sport management jobs with a local authority, a commercial organisation or with a voluntary sport organisation such as a governing body of sport.

Sports Coaching

The Sports Coaching programme is for experienced coaches who wish to extend their capacity by engaging in learning experiences which promote analysis and critical reflection of their coaching practice.

The programme has been developed to articulate with the emerging UKCC Level 4 certification process. Your work will be grounded in coaching practice and research, considering case studies and learning from peers and leading coaching practitioners.

Graduates are anticipated to fulfil roles in the ‘top tier’ of employment opportunities for coaches in their sport.

Performance Coaching

Performance Coaching is an innovative distance learning degree. It is for experienced performance coaches who wish to extend their expertise adjacent to their sport-specific qualifications.

The programme has been developed to articulate with the emerging UKCC Level 4 certification process. It will develop skills of critical analysis and reflective practice, enhance problem-solving capacity and promote innovative solutions to performance coaching problems.

Psychology of Sport

The programme has a broad focus and is ideally suited

to applicants who are interested in working as a sport

psychologist in applied sport settings, and/or wish to

pursue doctoral work in sport psychology.

Psychology of Sport is an exciting degree that will help

you develop your career in sport and exercise

psychology. Accreditation is planned through the

British Psychological Society.

This programme is geared towards the field of sport

and exercise psychology, but we anticipate graduates

acquiring the skills to move into a broad range of

career opportunities, including a number of sport and

health professions, posts within a number of fields in

the science industry, to careers within the civil service

and government.

Health and Exercise Sciences

This programme offers a knowledge and skills base

which enables cross-discipline exchange to occur

between those in the health sector and those in the

sport and exercise sectors.

Students will develop knowledge and understanding of key mechanisms linking diet, physical activity and health and research muscle physiology and function, exercise metabolism, nutrition, genetics and molecular biology.

Career prospects range from jobs in health promotion, sport development, or health and fitness industry through to science writing, Doctoral degree entry or Biosciences industry work.

Sport Nutrition

This MSc programme has been established specifically for students who already hold an International Olym-pic Committee (IOC) postgraduate diploma in Sports Nutrition -The programme provides high quality re-search training through planning, conducting and writing up a research project enabling those working in the field of Sports Nutrition to undertake, under-stand and inform others about research in their cho-sen area of study.
