Mother’s Day
Thank you to the many parents, grandparents, aunties and friends who came to the school last Friday afternoon to join in to the ‘Mother’s Afternoon Tea.’
There were approximately 100 guests for the ‘Tea’ and then another thirty plus parents arrived in time to watch the assembly.
For the students it is very special to have Mum or significant adult visit the school. This was evident when the whole school sung – ‘Super Mum, You’re Wonderful.’
Catherine King Visit
This week we were fortunate to have a visit from Catherine King MP – Federal Member for Ballarat. Ms King was able to visit the classrooms and see some of the great work that was being done by the students. This included curriculum such as: Big Write, Numeracy, ICT skills, and Specialist areas. The extensive extra-curricular activities such as Sporting Schools Program, Clubs, Leadership Program and Gardening Club were also showcased.
Head Lice Removal Training
Yes we are talking about those creepy little creatures that can find their way into hair and are very hard to get rid of! The mere thought of them makes most people want to scratch their head.
Clean hair, oily hair, short hair, long hair, blonde or brunette – the creepy little critters like all types! And apparently this is the season when they are most active.
The school has decided to take a very proactive approach to help parents eradicate them and is hosting a training session for parents.
Tuesday 6th June at 2.30 – 3.30pm in the School Library - Debra Watts (her business is Peek-a-pooh head lice removal) will assist parents to detect, identify, treat, remove and prevent head lice.
We encourage parents to make the most of this opportunity to help prevent and/or treat head lice.
## We will be training a number of staff to enable them to carry out ‘head checks’ once per term in the future. This task was once the role of Shire Councils but they no longer fulfil this role. However we see this as another way that the school can support parents to manage this issue.

Nate W and Nate M from 4/5C got some time to work on their handball skills.

Walk Safely To School Day – Friday 19th May, 2017
Tomorrow, Friday is ‘Walk Safely to School Day.’ If you are able to support your child/children to walk to school or at least some of the distance to school then please get involved as this day is about promoting healthy activity. The school counts all of the children who walk, ride, roller their way to school and sends this information into the campaign directors. ## At this stage Friday could be wet, if this is the case – please drop your child off as normal to ensure they stay dry and warm.
