In order to graduate school:

¡¡I had to take Language, Maths, French, History,
Geography, Religious
Education, Physical Education, and
Natural Science!!
In the 60’s, I had Maths, Language, Sewing lessons,
Religion (the most important subject) and Geography. I
couldn´t choose my subjects at all…
I have Maths, Spanish, English, but I have a lot
of options to choose, such as French, Religious Education, P.E., Science,
…
Did you have to wear a uniform?
Only students of private schools had a uniform.
Students of state school didn’t have to.
Yes, of course. Boys wore a
sweater and trousers. And girls
used to wear a white shirt and a
blue skirt.
I liked it.
No! I wouldn’t like to
wear a uniform…
What methods do teachers use in classes?
In the 60’s the teacher
always commanded
(frontal teaching)
Nowadays classes are very
varied. Sometimes the teacher
commands or we do group
work, pair work , games and
practical activities, we have
use of media worksheets etc.
How much are parents involved in your school life, and how? Mum and Dad help me
when I need it.
My parents were working in the fields, so they didn´t get involved in my school life…
Are there any punishments?
In my times there was
corporal punishment
(beating, hitting etc.)There’s no physical
punishment, butYeeeees! Teachers phone our parents
What are the main reasons for
being punished in any way?
Bad behaviour.
If you spoke with other student in class
Bad behaviour.
How is the marking system in your times?
From 1 to 10.
From 1 to 10.
In the past we had
no marks.
Schools in Spain have changed in appearance quite a lot:
The most important change:
What we want now is to change the way of studying and to make the students happier and more comfortable when they go to school. We start to colour walls and to build nicer schools.
It involves thinking about those disabled students who can’t walk or see.
As all of you have seen..
• Today, we can do COMENIUS projects and exchanges easly. For all students this is one of
the best things. Because thanks to that, we are making friends, having good time, learning
a lot and writing all this adventure in our memories. Thanks! That couldn’t be possible if
you weren’t here.
But obviously..
• Not everything is changing in a good way…
