Bailey Middle School Profile
Bailey Middle School is beginning its tenth year and has generated a reputation of high student achievement,
athletic success, artistic and musical talent, as well as outstanding community support. This year, Bailey has adopted the
Leader in Me program which is based on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People philosophy. Our students exceeded
expected growth goals on the 2014-15 EOGs with a 79.5% proficiency in grades 6-8 on all EOGs and EOCs identifying
Bailey as a “School of High Growth”. Additionally, our students met or exceeded “Expected Growth” goals in all content
areas at each grade level. Bailey has also met all North Carolina and Federal Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO)
Benchmarks for 2014-2015. We currently provide Honors level courses in all grades and High School Level courses in
Math (Math I and Math II) and Foreign Language (Spanish and French).
Bailey has a diverse student and staff population with 20% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch. We
currently have 1,560 students enrolled, which is made up of 75% White, 10% Hispanic, 8% African American, 3% Multi-
Racial, 2% Native American, 2% Asian. In addition, 3% of our population is LEP, 6% receive EC services, and 24% are
enrolled in the talent development program. Although we are a school of high growth, our most recent data shows that
challenges still remain to improve our reading and math proficiency, especially with our African American, EC, and
Hispanic subgroups.
We have tremendous support from the community, which includes partnerships with The Park Church, Chick-fil-A,
Champions Sports, Tenders, and many other local businesses. We have a strong PTSA that contributes time, talent, and
treasure to support our numerous programs and events provided to our students, staff, and families at Bailey.
Bailey Middle has an array of extra-curricular activities. We have very successful athletic teams and strong support
for their programs. We offer during, before, and after school clubs and activities such as National Junior Honor Society,
Honors Chorus, Jazz Band, Performing Band, Blazing Bows, Drama, Art Murals, Robotics, Horsepower Motorsports, Math
Club, Chess, Leadership Ambassadors, etc.
Though we are doing well as a school, and improving each year, we still have academic challenges that we hope to
overcome. High academic achievement and growth for all students is our primary focus.
