About Our School

BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIESTo ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all of our students, we follow the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support system. We establish and teach students the behaviors and expectations of our school. We have a system that includes levels of interventions, supports and celebrations. We also have a school mantra, "Dude.....Be Kind." that is posted, handed out on cards and printed on shirts. Our school is also registered with Safe Schools. Our students are able to report any incidences of harassment, bullying and threats to self or others. We also have a full-time School Resource Officer who is very involved with our school community.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIESOur school offers several academic focused extracurricular activities:Brain Bowl, Pentagames, Math Counts, Battle of the Books, Scavenger HuntOur school has a number of clubs that meet during lunch and after school:Impact, weightlifting, yearbook, drama, speech and debate, gardening, bridge, leadership, student storeOur school offers OSAA athletics. PARENT ENGAGEMENTOur school strives to engage all of our parents by providing language supports for parents where English is their second language. Our school hosts various events for students and families. (Swift Night, Sporting Events, 8th grade farewell, National Junior Honor Society, Hedrick Showdown) We also have an annual awards night where many students are celebrated for their academic achievements and personal accomplishments. Parents are invited to celebrate their children.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTWe partner with local businesses to provide students with learning opportunities in connection with our community: Police and Fire Department, Family Solutions, Audubon Society, Sparrow Club, Happy Smiles, Winterspring. Each year we hold our Hedrick Showdown fundraiser that is sponsored by a local Orthodontist. The money we earn supports students in need and student activities.

Metas de la EscuelaNuestra escuela se esfuerza para promover la equidad y proveer una educación de calidad para cada estudiante. Al enfocarse en la equidad, nuestro objetivo es reducir la brecha de rendimiento entre los grupos estudiantiles y garantizar que todos nuestros estudiantes aprendan al máximo de sus habilidades. POLÍTICAS DE INTIMIDACIÓN, ACOSÓ Y SEGURIDADPara garantizar un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro para todos nuestros alumnos, seguimos el sistema de Intervenciones y Apoyo de Comportamiento Positivo. Establecemos y enseñamos a los estudiantes los comportamientos y expectativas de nuestra escuela. Tenemos un sistema que incluye niveles de intervenciones, apoyos y celebraciones. También tenemos un lema de la escuela, "Amigo …se amable". Nuestra escuela también está registrada en Safe Schools. Nuestros estudiantes pueden informar cualquier incidencia de acoso, intimidación y amenazas a sí mismo o a otros. También tenemos un Oficial de Recursos Escolares de tiempo completo.
