As part of the K-P transition program, the parents have heard about beginning school, classroom programs and the importance of school routines as well as student wellbeing at TRBPS. In the following sessions they will hear information about the Uniform Shop and the Commonwealth Student Banking service. It has been an exciting program for both the parents and the students who have been participating in some prep activities and visiting specialist programs such as PMP (Perceptual Motor Program). I would like to thank Mr Peter Seddon, Mrs Marie Chalas and Mrs Lucy McNair and the prep teaching team for their wonderful effort regarding organisation for a very smooth transition for all concerned; there were only the occasional tears (mostly from the parents) so far. Thank you to all of the TRBPS community volunteers and the ES staff for their assistance with the transition program, it really does put the children and parents at ease and allows the program to run very effectively. We couldnt do this without your genuine care, effort and support! Facilities Update I wanted to alert the school community to the building work that will be carried out at the school again this Saturday 12th November . This will be the final removal of the Asbestos in the eaves. The DET and building contractors would prefer that the community did not use the grounds during this period of work. The work scheduled involves the removal of the eaves containing asbestos on the Administration/Prep Building. This work will be carried out in accordance with Government building regulations and OH&S and Work Safe guidelines. The company in charge of overseeing this work will be using all of the correct signage to alert any local community members as well. The repair work on the building will follow the removal of the eaves such as, roof and spouting repairs, painting and plastering as well as the installation of new split system air-conditioners throughout the main building. We hope that all of the work is completed as soon as possible but health and safety for all of the school community must continue to be our top priority. Graduation Celebration News We have organised a formal Graduation Ceremony and speeches at Coatesville Primary School on Thursday December 15, beginning with the student s arrival at 6.30pm at the Coatesville Primary School Hall for an anticipated 7pm sharp start. The suitability of this venue allows students to have a few more close family members attend to see them graduate. On the following Monday evening (December 19) there will be a Graduation partyfor the children and teachers which includes a dinner followed by a Disco. More information will follow shortly in a letter from the year 5/6 Team Leader Mrs Rachel Kushnir.

Student Class Allocation for 2017 - requests for special consideration: Very shortly, teachers will commence work on organising the classes for 2017. We aim to create classes that are balanced, analogous and happy. Careful consideration is given to a number of factors when placing children into grades. These include:

total number of boys and girls

personality behaviour academic ability friendships and other children with whom they work well etc. Next year it is anticipated that we will have 26 classes with about 620 children to place. Please note: it is not possible or practical to take requests from parents

regarding specific teachers. However, if a parent has a concern that relates to the academic progress or social and emotional wellbeing of their child this may be put in writing and sent to my attention at [email protected] by November 20. This ensures we have plenty of time to effectively allocate students effectively to classes by the end of the school year.

Junior School Sports (Prep—2) Tomorrow Thursday 10th November 9.30-12.30pm Parents and friends are invited to attend and support our students from Prep-2 as they participate in the Junior Sports. It is highly recommended that spectators bring a chair and are sun smart (wear a hat and sunscreen). The sports will be held at Rowans Road Athletics Track.

TRBPS Cookbook- ‘Our Family Tucker’ Reminder Cookbook Launch is November 11. We look forward to seeing everyone at the launch from 3.30-5.00pm in the school hall. There will be many activities to enjoy as part of this launch, so please come and join us to either pick up your pre-paid copy or to purchase a copy of the cookbook. Once again, thank you to everyone involved: the PFA cookbook committee, school community and our very generous sponsors.

Tucker Road School Aerobics Team

Are you interested in joining a new and

exciting school aerobics team?

Tucker Road will be forming a brand new aerobics team. This is an opportunity for students to be involved in a fantastic and

inclusive team environment, whilst getting fit and performing with friends.

Philosophy of SCHOOLAEROBICS The main aim of SCHOOLAEROBICS is to provide primary school students with an avenue to improve their fitness, confi-

dence, health and self-esteem through participation in a healthy and fun competition. What is SCHOOLAEROBICS? SCHOOLAEROBICS is the largest interschool aerobic teams and single competition in Australia. Boys and girls from Year 3-6

are eligible to compete. The event is structured to cater for the novice, intermediate and elite standard competitors. SCHOOLAEROBICS at Tucker Road Primary SCHOOLAEROBICS is a fun, exciting and serious commitment. Students will be participating in a range of competitions sched-

uled to commence early 2017, these will be held at The Arena in Geelong. Final event dates will be released November 26th

2016. More information will follow once these dates are confirmed. There will be a fee involved to cover the cost of entry and

potentially other costs, including costumes. Time Commitment Students interested in participating will need to commit to attending one weekly lunchtime practise in 2016, and a few more

lunchtime practises leading up to the competition.
