The reports have indicated that the airborne mould readings (internally) were not above any of the recommended safe levels. The air conditioning and plumbing/roofing report did find that we will need to complete various maintenance works on the building. The building has been found to be structurally sound but would benefit from refurbishment or replacement of the evaporative air conditioning units which are very old and require a significant upgrade. The roof needs some maintenance work including new eaves (removal of the current ones which contain asbestos). This work will be carried out adhering to OHS guidelines and building regulations and the removal of the eaves will therefore occur outside of school operating times. Last week the electrical phases to the Administration/Prep Building were assessed and it was determined that we could add split system air-conditioning to the prep classrooms, staffroom and administration area without causing any electrical issues. We have therefore decided to go ahead with this option given the age of the existing evaporative cooling systems. It is hoped that all of the major repairs will occur as soon as possible so that we can move the Prep children and teachers back in to their regular classrooms. I would like to thank the school community for their support and patience during the work inspection period. This time allowed for a full assessment of the building condition to occur and guaranteed that we received most accurate information about the work required thus ensuring that the children and staff were not at any health risk. School Concert 2016 Robert Blackwood hall was an amazing and very acoustically sound venue for this years school concert and the ticketing process ran very smoothly for the office administration staff. We still need to evaluate the financial viability of using the Monash University venue. Feedback from staff and parents has been very positive so far with the concert enjoyed by the entire school community. Luckily, it was not too far for parents to travel and there seemed to be plenty of parking. The university staff that assisted the concert committee was well organised and extremely helpful. All of the TRBPS Staff worked very hard to ensure that all of the concert items would be very entertaining. Ms Alana Oro and our 2016 school leaders were very articulate and ensured the concert ran very efficiently. As with any large scale event there are many people involved in ensuring that the event is very successful. I would like to acknowledge the work of all involved: To the dedicated teaching staff at TRBPS, thank you for your thorough preparation of the children to produce a really marvellous show. Each class item displayed creativity, commitment and engagement – well-done! Thank you to the various extra support staff and community volunteers that have worked behind the scenes to ensure that this event came to fruition- the administration staff, prop organisers, choreographers, lighting, music and sound, student wellbeing & management and providing schedules and programs etc. Thank you to all the TRBPS parents and community volunteers who also gave a great deal of their time to assist and support our 2016 school concert.

Thank you to all the TRBPS parents and community volunteers who also gave a great deal of their time to assist and support our 2016 school concert.

An extra special thank you to Ms Donoghue (concert coordinator) and Mr Peter Seddon (concert logistics) , who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to complete a lot of the major organisation- liaising with the Monash University staff, program management, music checks, rehearsal and logistic coordination for this year’s concert.

Thank you to the Monash University staff who assisted and guided us during rehearsals and on the night.

Thank you to the parents and extended community members who joined the staff and children of TRBPS last Thursday evening (October 13) for a wonderful and most enjoyable school concert.

To the Year 6 Students – you have made us all very proud; what an amazing item and your wonderful song titled, ‘5 Years’. You are all really very creative and talented. We look forward to your official ‘Year 6 Graduation’ celebration on Thursday December 15 at Coatesville Primary School. More information will follow closer to this event.

Curriculum/Pupil Free Day- Monday October 31 Staff will be analysing and discussing all of the 2016 school data to make recommendations to guide the next school Annual Implementation Plan. This will be the third year of our School Strategic Plan and we look forward to celebrating our school improvement; teaching and learning journey so far. Children will not be required at school on this day and given that it scheduled the day before the Melbourne Cup holiday, many families may use the opportunity to take an extended break. Camp Australia will be running a program on curriculum day and bookings are essential to ensure that the program can operate. Please make sure that your child is booked into the program in advance if you wish to make use of this service. It will be cancelled if there are not enough prior bookings.

Prep Enrolments 2017 update We have approximately 105 children enrolled for foundation (Prep) for 2017 and approximately 620 in total of students across the school. We will be running with 26 classes plus our specialist curriculum areas of Art, PE, Music/Preforming Arts and LOTE (Italian).

Student Class Allocation for 2017 - requests for special consideration: Very shortly, teachers will commence work on organising the classes for 2017. We aim to create classes that are balanced, analogous and happy. Careful consideration is given to a number of factors when placing children into grades. These include:

total number of boys and girls

personality

behaviour

academic ability

friendships and other children with whom they work well etc.

Staffing News 2017 Congratulations to Mr Matt Serres and Mrs Ellise Mehl on being the successful applicants for our 2 recently advertised one year contracts for 2017.We will be advertising a Handyman/Maintenance Position as a one year contract - late October. This will be advertised on DET’s Recruitment Online and through the Age newspaper. Thank You to Mr Kel Segbedzi (BaGs) for assisting with the role description.

Cookbook News – ‘Our Family Tucker’ Thank you to the PFA members who have brought to fruition our 2016 school cookbook, ‘Our Family Tucker’. GREEN TEAM NEWS

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This term the Green Team are taking part in a fantastic Glen Eira Council sustainability initiative called ‘Keeping Our Oceans Plastic Free’. The Green Team have been asked to create a large bottle-cap ocean mural. The mural will represent the sea and its inhabitants, promoting the cause of keeping our rubbish out of the world’s oceans. The boards will be linked together with other school’s murals from around the Glen Eira area to make a great visual display and will be exhibited at Party in the Parks, an event taking placed at the beginning Of next year, details of the event will be released shortly. We need your help! We are asking for any donations of plastic bot-tle caps, or any other small unwanted plastic items to be bought to school and put in the blue plastic tub, located in the office area. So please don’t discard your bottle caps, send them to school! Thank you for your support. The Green Team Pip Cafiso
