PRINCIPAL WRITES

PREP EXCURSION to the MELBOURNE ZOO

Congratulations to the staff, students and parents in the Prep Team for the outstanding success of the

excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. It was our Prep students’ first excursion and required a lot of

preparation and planning to ensure it ran smoothly. The day also provided a very meaningful learning

experience for our students and supported some of the wonderful research work on animals that the

students have been doing as part of their inquiry learning topic.

We wish to thank the following parents for their tireless efforts as parent helpers on the excursion:

Troy Gaylard, Jodie James, Kelly Brownrigg, Claire Raymond, Leigh Stewart, Rebecca Leicester, Jo

Timms, Danielle Askew, Rosnah Hashim, Mary Xuereb, Rose Smyth, Bademe Cekovic, Enverie Balla, ,

Sonia Gray, Nuaire Thomas.

TRANSITION PROGRAM

Our annual transition program began last week. All students are participating in our school based

transition program over the next three weeks. Sessions are held on consecutive Thursdays - 19th

(9:30 –

10:30am), 26th

(8:30 – 10:30am) and December 3rd

(8:30 – 10:30am). Then we have the state wide

transition day on Tuesday, December 8th

. Please contact the Office you have any queries about transition.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS

Our teachers work hard to provide important information sessions for parents.

1:1 Netbook Program in 2016: On Tuesday, November 24th

(6:00 – 7:00pm) parents of current Grade 3

students are invited to a 1:1 Netbook Information Night. This event is provided for parents to gain an

understanding of our excellent 1:1 Netbook Program that is implemented from Grade 4 – 6. Information

shared will include the philosophy behind the successful 1:1 Netbook Program at Bellbridge, the

importance of Cyber Safety and the e-Smart Program.

We are very proud of the skills and understandings our students develop as part of the Netbook Program.

It is held in very high esteem by local secondary school teachers who comment on the high level of

competencies our students demonstrate in Year 7.

Prep Information Night: On Monday, December 7th

, parents of Preps in 2016 have been invited to an

information session which will be held in the gym. Parents will have the opportunity to view a video that

depicts a typical day for a Prep student at our school and will be able to visit a range of stalls that

showcase examples of Reading, Writing, Maths, Homework, Getting Ready for School, After School

Care Program, School Canteen and the School Nurse program.

We appreciate the time that our teachers and parents take out of their busy family time to attend these

sessions. It contributes to the success of our home school partnerships.
