What is the SAT???The Scholastic Assessment Test otherwise known as the SAT reasoning test is a college admission test that shows colleges what you know and how well you can apply that knowledge. The SAT consists of Math, Reading, and Writing, as they are the sections an individual will be tested on. If you have noticed, these sections are topics that are used and taught everyday in school! The SAT is also a timed test that an individual will have three hours and 45 minutes to complete, however it isnot timed as a whole, but will be timed for each different sections and according to the sections the time given will be different. The primary aim of the SATs is to give educational institutions (Colleges) a standard measure to evaluate the candidates for their ability in problem solving. Why is it important?The SATs are important because most colleges and universities use your SAT score as a factor in determining admissions. Another reason to take the SAT is for financial aid consideration. Grants and scholarships, especially those run by the school or private organizations, often take SAT scores along with grade point average into account. The SATs is a key factor in ones life as it may account for what college you might be accepted into. It is also important because it compares students together, because a high GPA canbe attainted by taking easier classes than others, the SATs may show the difference between students.

by:-Creating flashcards and reviewing them everyday.-Using them in everyday sentences so you become

more familiar with them.-Purchasing an SAT book. They usually come with

cards that are easy to rip out.-Making a dictionary or thesaurus your best

friend.

Take Practice SAT Tests-They should offer it in your school as a

sophomore and junior.-You can also buy an SAT book. They have

practice SAT tests in there. -You can take practice SAT tests on

www.collegeboard.org

Download Apps Teens these days usually have a smart phone

or iPod. We use technology everyday. There are many apps that help you prepare for the SAT. There are specific apps for the vocabulary, math, and English sections. Whenever you're bored, you can go on them and study instead of playing a game or using Facebook or Instagram.

Make An Account On College BoardIf you create an account on collgeboard, they

e-mail you SAT questions everyday. You have to make an account anyways to register for the SAT. So you might as well make one now and get the practice that you need.

Timing:You need to get used to timing yourself. You

only have abour 25 minutes for each section. If you decide to take a practice SAT test at home, give yourself 25 minutes to work on it. If you don't finish on time, keep trying until you can finish the whole section in 25 minutes.
