You will note that various scholarships have different requirements, such as: an
application only; an application with letter(s) of recommendation; an application with an
essay; only an essay; or perhaps, only a letter. Please make sure your application and
other requirements are complete before submitting!
Some applications are to be mailed directly to the contributor.

The applicant must be a graduating Kings Park High School student. The applicant must
submit a one page essay demonstrating qualities they possess that would entitle them to
win this award. The applicant should possess kindness, compassion, and value orientated
living. They must detail in their essay his/her service in the Kings Park Community.

Awarded to a former student of Fort Salonga Elementary School. Please submit an essay
describing your experience(s) at Fort Salonga Elementary School and how your time
there impacted your life so far. (ex., a specific teacher, staff member or event). Include
significant character values you possess, as well as what “success” looks like for you,
personally. Also include a brief summary of your background and educational plans for
the future. Attach the essay and résumé (if desired) to the application form.

Application #15 Award: 2 @ $250 each
Awarded to a graduating Kings Park High School student who has been accepted to an
accredited two or four year college in the fall. Transcript and essay must be included
with the application. The essay must contain your chosen field of study with an
explanation as to how you arrived at this decision. It must also include one way in which
you have given back to the community. Involvement with school and community service
is tremendously important and will be heavily considered.
Michael & Michele Hanley Scholarship
Application #16 Award: $500
Awarded to a graduating senior planning to major in business at an accredited two or four
year college. The student must have maintained an average of 85% or better. Extra
consideration is given to applicants with work experience, participation in sports, and/or a
love for numbers.

Awarded to a graduating Kings Park High School senior who is a community service
minded, average student, planning on a political science or social services oriented
career. Applicant must submit a five hundred word essay on why they have chosen to
pursue a career in political science or social services.
Madeline C. Jones Memorial Scholarship

(Cover sheet AND essay required) Award: $500
Awarded to a graduating KPHS senior who has been accepted to an accredited two or
four year college/technical/business school in the fall. The student must be considered
respectful, friendly and responsible by his teachers and his peers, and provide a
supporting endorsement to that effect in the form of a note of recommendation.
Eligibility is limited to a child of a KPCSD employee.
Kings Park Alumni Wrestling Club Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating KPHS senior who has participated in youth wrestling, has
wrestled at the high school level, and has participated in one or more other sports at the
high school level. The applicant must have maintained a GPA of 85 or higher while in
high school. The applicant must submit a brief essay (250 word limit) as outlined on the
application form along with a copy of their transcript and proof of community service.
Kings Park Athletic Booster Association Scholarship

(Brief Essay) Award: 4 @ $500 each
Awarded to a graduating KPHS senior who has played a sport at the KPHS for a
minimum of 2 complete seasons. The applicant’s family must be a current member of the
KPABA. The applicant must submit a brief essay (200 words) describing their most
memorable experience participating in a KPHS sport along with the application form.

(Brief Essay) Award: $500
Awarded to a graduating KPHS senior who has been a student in the Kings Park Central
School District since Kindergarten. The applicant must submit a brief essay (250-500
words) describing themselves and a leadership role they have held within the school or in
the community. Extra consideration will be given to a child of a KP BAA member and/or
KPCSD employee.
Kings Park Chamber of Commerce Scholarship
Application #21 Awards: $TBD
All applicants must be a student of the Graduating Class of 2020 and reside in the Kings
Park Central School District. All questions on the application must be answered. Three
$1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students demonstrating academic and
extracurricular excellence. An additional fourth scholarship, “The Chamber of
Commerce High River Sauce Scholarship” will be awarded to a student going on to
pursue music in college. Your transcript and a brief essay must be included with the
application. Any application not accompanied by a transcript will be disqualified. The
essay must indicate your chosen field of study and an explanation of what events led you
to this decision.

Awarded to a four year college bound applicant who has a cumulative, weighted average
of 80 percent or more and who has participated in extra-curricular activities (clubs,
organizations, school team/non-school team sports, employment) and/or community
service activities (Boys Scout/ Girl Scout projects, religious volunteer, charitable
organization volunteer, etc.). Applicant’s family must have paid membership to Kings
Park High School Parent Faculty Association for 2019/2020 school year.

Awarded to a graduating Kings Park High School student. Applicant must submit a one
page letter, stating goals and ambitions. Financial need is also a consideration when
recipient is being selected. Please include your name, address and phone number.
Kings Park Lacrosse Club Community Service Award
Application #32 Award: 2 @ $500 each
Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to 2 KPHS graduating seniors, 1 male and 1
female, if qualifications are met, or one $1,000 scholarship awarded to 1 student if there
are not 2 candidates that meet the criteria. Applicants must have participated in the Kings
Park Lacrosse Club and in lacrosse at KPHS. An essay, describing how the sport of
lacrosse or a coach has impacted your life and how you personally have given back to the
youth lacrosse community within Kings Park, should be submitted with the application.
Candidate must be attending a post-secondary educational institution in the fall.

Applicant must be a graduating Kings Park High School student planning on pursuing
his/her post-secondary goals in college or vocational school. Applicant must submit

attesting to their community involvement or acts of kindness, and a 150 word minimum
essay as outlined on the application form.
Kings Park Retired Teachers Association Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating Kings Park High School student planning on pursuing
his/her post-secondary goals in college or vocational school. Applicant must submit
completed application form, a copy of current KPHS transcript, letter of recommendation
from teacher or Guidance Counselor, and a 250 word essay.
Kings Park Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee Scholarship

Awarded to a Kings Park High School graduating senior of Irish Descent. Extra
consideration is given to applicants with a resume showing extra-curricular activities in
school or community services and/or Irish cultural activities.
Kings Park Soccer Club Scholarship

Awarded to a dedicated male or female soccer player who is currently playing or who has
played soccer, coached, refereed or helped the Kings Park Soccer Club in any capacity.
They must plan on attending a school of higher education. Candidates should submit in
their qualifications list: the capacities in which they helped the Kings Park Soccer Club;
any community or social work that they have been involved in; information regarding the
candidate’s school achievements; sports and scholastics. No late requests will be

The criteria for consideration are as follows:
1. This scholarship is to be applied for by recommendation from a non-family
member. All recommendations must be received in writing explaining why the
student deserves this award; list any other qualifications that relate to the
criteria below; include recommender’s name, address & phone number as well as
student contact information. No late requests will be considered
2 The student must be planning to attend a school of higher education.
3. This scholarship is to award the student’s ongoing community services and/or an
act of community service that distinguishes him or her from the rest of the
student body.
4. The student should show involvement in a variety of extra-curricular activities;

Awarded to a graduating KPHS senior who participates in the KP theatre program. The
applicant can either be an actor or a tech student whose family is a member of the KP
Theatre Booster Club. For 2020 graduates the family must be a member for 1 year; after
2020, the family must be a member for 2 years. The applicant must have an overall GPA
of 85% or higher, has a good attendance record and involved with school and community
service and other extracurricular activities. The applicant must submit a brief essay
describing themselves, their service to the school and community, their educational plans
and what winning this scholarship means to them along with the application form.

Awarded to a graduating Senior applicant who resides in the Kings Park Central School
District or is the child or grandchild of a Council #821 member and is planning to pursue
studies in the sciences in college. The student must have pursued science courses in high
school and have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA in such courses. Preference is given to a
student who is a member of the St. Joseph Parish in Kings Park. The applicant, who must
attach a brief essay describing the student’s plan for college and beyond, must exhibit a
respectable level of community service and has generally lived the values of the Knights
of Columbus organization. This scholarship is intended to be awarded on a merit basis;
however, financial need may also be considered after all other requirements are met.

their education. Applicant must have a C+ average or above and a student who plays
either a school sport or for a community based sports team. Athletes with a college sport
scholarship already awarded or students attending a military academy are not eligible.

Application #57 Award: 4 @ $1,000 each
The applicant must be a graduating high school student, who is a child or grandchild of a
current Lodge member. Applicants must have achieved an average of 85% or better (or a
grade point average of 3.0) and must be planning to attend a full time program at a
college or other post secondary program. A brief essay (approx. 250 words) must be
submitted, along with the application. The essay must summarize the applicant’s career
aspirations, community contributions and how the student’s Italian American heritage has
been an influence in their life. The student must also submit an official transcript of their
grades, including the first half of twelfth grade and two letters of recommendation from
teachers, guidance counselors, or other school personnel. These letters must reflect a
strong academic commitment, as well as character and effort.

San Remo Civic Association Scholarship

Essay
Recipient must be a current resident of San Remo and must be a child, grandchild or legal
ward of current member of the San Remo Civic Association (the current member must be
in good standing for two consecutive years prior to application for the scholarship). The
applicant must be a graduating senior planning on furthering their education in a given
profession or trade. Award of scholarship is based on a combination of SAT /ACT
scores, class rank, community service(s) and essay. Applicant may not receive more than
$2,000 in other scholarships.
Lieutenant Roslyn Littmann Schulte (US Air Force) Memorial Scholarship
Application #67 Award: $250
Awarded to a graduating KPHS female student who played varsity lacrosse and plans on
playing lacrosse in college, OR attending a Military Academy or ROTC in college. Other
requirements include participation in community services and maintaining a grade point
average of 90 or above. Applicant must include a brief essay describing their service to
the school and community and educational plans for the future, along with their
application.

Thomas E. Smith, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Award

Essay
This one-time scholarship is awarded to a college bound member of the Kings Park High
School Graduation Class of 2020 who is a current resident of Kings Park and has
attended Kings Park schools continuously from grades 1 through 12. Applicant must
submit the application form with an essay of NO MORE than 250 WORDS describing
why the applicant should be awarded this scholarship. Please note that any essay
exceeding 250 words will be disqualified.
Wendy Kathleen Smith Memorial Scholarship Award

Essay
Applicants must be a college bound Kings Park High School senior with a C average or
better. Transcript must be included with application, as well as an essay, telling about
yourself and your aspirations and goals for life.
Art Snelders Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating Kings Park High School applicant who demonstrates integrity,
commitment and respect and is planning on furthering his/her education. Applicant must
have been involved in extra-curricular activities during their four years in the high school.

Awarded to a graduating Kings Park High School student who is planning on attending a
four year college. Applicant must be of good character and an upstanding member of the
community who demonstrates integrity, commitment and respect. Financial need is
