30 years of innovative solutions for automotive industryAutomotive industry can now have their old returnable transit packaging (RTP) recycled into new high-quality food grade containers, thanks to Schoeller Allibert’s European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) accredited recycling process.

The accredited process, which covers the recycling of food-grade HDPE and PP crates into new containers for food contact, has been developed in order to help food processing companies and retailers to meet increasing stringent sustainability targets. Magnum Optimum® the best reusable FLC for the Automotive logistics The new Magnum Optimum® is stronger, lighter, more hygienic and offers greater shipping volume.

1. The most efficient reverse logistics solutionWith the lowest folded height on the market, Magnum Optimum stacks 8 high when folded inside a standard truck offering a 30% space saving over any competing FLC.

2. Optimised storage, handling and distributionMagnum Optimum offers outstanding mechanical performance. 750 kg unit load for standard models and up to 1 tonne for reinforced base versions. Stacking load 3200 kg or 4/1.

3. Hygiene and operator friendlinessSmooth internal and external walls surfaces avoid water retention and protect products and operators from damage or injury. Non sequential folding and smooth easy to use locking devices make Magnum Optimum efficient and easy to handle on the shop floor.

4. Versatile modular systemUnique Optiframe spacer makes Magnum Optimum the most versatile and modular container. Increasing height from 750 up to more than 1200 mm, according to the type and volume of contents.

Customer storyThe Gestamp group is manufacturing steel bodyworks, chassis and mechanical components for the International automotive industry.

Steel hollow frames delivered from UK to the Bielefeld site for further processing and assembly were using too much storage space and reverse logistics of empties was very costly. On top, protection of parts was not satisfactory as weather conditions did cause corrosion and claims.

Magnum Optimum® 975, with its 750 kg certified unit load, proved to be as tong as steel cages much ligher and easy to handle for operators. With the best folding rate of the market the Magnum Optimum® could optimise space saving of empties and drastically lowered fright cost on reverse logistics to UK .

Full, the Magnum Optimum® can take more parts with 98 units instead of 78 increasing truck load by 9%. The ROI was reached only one year after the implementation and the global carbon impact was reduced.

Customer storyInitial Situation: Continental Automotive CZ is manufacturing and assembling pumps and engines modules for the major OEM’s worldwide. Fiat FC1 modules are delivered 1700 kms away from Turnov factory. One way packaging systems proved to be expensive because complex, time consuming and ineffective as dust was polluting modules.

Our solution: Customised Magnum Optimum with 3 optiframes to reach the precise usable height. Bespoke thermoformed trays (locally sourced) enabling 7 layers of trays with 10 modules to fit inside the MO.Two MO stacked full in trucks, significantly increasing payload.

Main benefits: Increased quality and savings as more parts can be loaded in each container and truck. Faster packaging operations and less labour needed. Improved sustainability thanks to waste reduction.

Customer storyLeading supplier of Turbochargers to the automotive industry worldwide our customer was using steel gridded pallet boxes for storage of parts in a high bay racking system.

Main issues were dust on parts that required plastic inlays for protection the weight of the containers and the cost of maintenance. The customer was reorganising and improving his production system and needed a clean storage systems, allowing easy and ergonomic handling and access at the assembly lines.

With Schoeller Allibert 800x600 HD Magnum, fully smooth closed walls and lid improved safety and kept the parts clean. The smaller footprint improved handling and facilitated delivery of parts on time at the assembly line border.

Foldable the Magnum also reduced the empties storage space and increased flexibility of logistics. Erecting and folding by one operator only, lightweight, with a front door, the Magnum HD improved operators comfort and saves on labor cost. According to parts, the cost of transport and maintenance was reduced by up to 60%. Implementation is a success .

Customer storyOur customer HELLA Front lighting Slovakia in Kocovce was receiving parts and components from their suppliers in a wide variety of packaging mostly one way cardboard boxes and some RTP, with different footprints.

This situation was creating issues and refusal, as automotive lights are complex assembled electronic parts and aspect parts that cannot support dust or dirt.

The different packaging made it difficult for our customer to streamline their supply chain and standardise their manufacturing and order preparation.

Decision to shift all suppliers and parts to VDA–RKLT ESD material containers in 2 standard footprints and use dustproof pallet covers, has brought a great improvement in supply chain efficiency and final product quality.

Refused parts and scraps have disappeared and all new HELLA projects include the ESD VDA containers as mandatory packaging.

Customer storySchoeller Allibert has been the global supplier of RTP to the Valeo group, worldwide, for a long period of time. Inside Valeo Thermal control Business group, the Climate Control division focuses on systems and modules for passengers comfort inside vehicles.

The eurostacking containers of different ranges have been used by Valeo to optimize logistics efficiency, but a new generation of crates offering new features and identification possibilities was needed.

Euroclick brand new models , offering improved internal volumes, smooth walls and base, ergonomic handles and above all the versatile label holder Click holder® to just click on one end and one side, have been promptly adopted both in Valeo Green PP and ESD material.

Label holders and pimple pad areas eliminated all identification and tracking issues: no more self-adhesive labels and glue residue on the containers and efficient tracking all along the supply chain.

Ergonomics and operator comfort were also improved in the global Valeo division, now successfully using 7 models in 2 footprints.

Customer storyInitial Situation: Automotive seats leader in Europe was receiving parts to assemble on his cross docking site in Poland, in a wide variety of packaging: cardboard boxes and VDA stackable containers. They were facing quality issues with cardboard boxes as damages were frequent on aspect parts. VDA containers were protecting products but generated high return cost to suppliers.

Standard containers may be inserted to make one-piece moldings designed to carry specific engineered components. We can also develop a specific injection molded crate, firmly and carefully holding your parts at all stages of the logistics process and allow robotised loading and unloading.

Our offer also includes a comprehensive range of Piston trays.

We can adapt the width or length of a standard container to allow fully secured shipment of your awkwardly shaped automotive parts: we can extend or shorten the sides and ends of the crates, by cutting and welding and obtain the precise container size that meets your needs.
