Basic Design & Colour Concept Laboratory
1. To develop some design using basic concept of line, shape and texture through gradation, repetition,
proportion and emphasis.
2. To develop design using different type of motifs (Natural Motif, Decorative Motif, Geometric Motif,
Abstract Motif).
3. To produce floral, geometrical abstract and boarder design. Enlargement and deduction of design.
4. To develop Colour mixtures according to pigment theory of colour and show arrangement of the
primary, secondary and intermediate Colour.

occasion, and figure.
Pattern making- Objectives, Importance of paper pattern, Types of paper patterns, Methods of pattern making- a)
Drafting b) Flat pattern c) Draping, Measurements and its importance. Tracing and marking terminology- Chalked marking, chalked thread, colour coding, pin marking, tailors tacks, thread tracing.
Pattern layout- according to types of fabrics, different types of lays, economy of fabrics in layouts, cloth layouts. Working with different fabrics. Principle of fitting- ease, line, grain, set, balance. Grading.
