Building Study Committee Update As you are aware, the Building Study Committee has been meeting over the past two months to look at the possibilities of starting a late traditional service on Sunday mornings. They have been diligently looking at all the different viable options and in the near future they will be sharing with the congregation their findings. The committee is still gathering data, so they do not have any final decisions yet. However, as the committee has been looking into all the different scenarios, it feels that there are primarily four options that we have as a church (Listed in no particular order). 1. Start a late traditional service simultaneous with the contemporary service and move the contemporary service to the Fellowship Hall (this is the option that was presented to the Charge Conference). 3. Build a balcony in the sanctuary to expand the seating capacity and keep current service times. A more expanded feasibility study of this is being undertaken at this time by the Building Study Committee. 2. Do three services in the sanctuary back-to-back-to-back and split our Sunday school hour between two of those hours. 4. Do nothing. This Building Study Committee has worked hard at looking at all of these options. And as I said before, they will be communicating with the congregation in the near future the pros and cons of each option along with their recommendation. There will be plenty of opportunity for everyone who is interested to hear each option and the committee’s recommendation once they have finished their work. In fact, if you have any recommendations or questions, feel free to contact me here at the church, or any of the committee members. The members are: Floyd Hartman (chair), Bryan Smith (vice-chair), Jon Behrens, Mikey Littau, Linda West, Dale Pulliam, Ronay Bach, Shawn Burns, Tim Gilliland, James Hartman and Bill Rogers. Upcoming sermon series

VBS has come and gone! We

had the honor of hosting 115

kids for our Everywhere Fun

Fair. We journeyed around

the world, making stops in

Zimbabwe, Australia, Mexico,

Japan and the United

Kingdom. At each stop we

learned different ways that children exhibit

Christ’s love and actions to help those around

them. The mission focus was Ronald McDonald

House and the Children’s Hospital. The kids

donated over 100 children’s books. We have

amazing kids and God is doing amazing things

with them.

Just as VBS has come and gone, summer too is

here and soon will be gone. Fall is just around

the corner. You know what that means!!!!

Wednesday Night Activities!!!!! These activities

will begin September 18.

I am in the preparing stages for the Fall. As you

know, that means I need you. Without

volunteers, we have no children’s activities!

Places to volunteer: Pre-K class, Kinder/1st

grade, 234 and Club 56.

Join the team and lead our children to be

disciples of Jesus and transform the world.

Greetings!

I trust that you

have enjoyed your

summer and had

plenty of time to

relax. The

summer is finally

slowing down for

me, which is

probably a good thing since my second

daughter Talor Dawn is soon to arrive. We have

one event left this summer and it will be the

warmest by far. We will be heading to Rock the

Desert, which is a three day Christian music

festival in between Odessa and Midland.

Please pray for safe travel and safety from the

heat while we are there.

As for the events passed...Summer camps were

amazing and I would highly encourage you to

send youth you know next summer...what a

blessing! Our camping and rafting trip was

amazing as well. It never ceases to amaze me

what a great bonding experience camping is.

Please keep in mind that the Fall is

approaching fast and there will be lots of new

youth coming to experience church, possibly for

the first time. Please pray for them and make

sure and give them a warm welcome when you

see them. Pray that FUMC youth will be a

vessel for God to reveal himself to youth and

families all over the panhandle. You may even

consider helping out!

May God bless you the rest of this summer and

may you take time to rest when needed...I

know I will! -Tyler L.
