6/12/17 Spring Sports officially ended last week (with exciting finishes from our boys golf and girls track and field teams) and thus ends this first volume of the Booster Bulletin. Our thanks goes out to: A.D. Tim Filon and his trusty assistant, Allison Schulman for their input and assistance; three seasons’ worth of coaches for their contributions and support; two wonderful student-interns, Adam Therriault and Lauren Jeandell, for their hard work throughout the week (and especially on Sunday evenings); and last, but not least, you readers for embracing this new way of communicating Avon Athletics’ news, and for encouraging us as we forged our journalistic way. On a more somber note, many of you may have heard that Allison Schulman’s 22 year old son, Justin, died unexpectedly at his home in Florida on May 27th. His memorial service is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Simsbury. In honor of Justin, out of respect for Allison and the Schulman family, and to allow interested Booster Club members to attend the service, we are postponing our meeting tonight. The Booster Club’s last monthly meeting of the year will be held next Monday, June 19th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room. If you are interested in what lies ahead for Avon Athletics, or if you would like to take a more active volunteer role, please join us. We will met again in September (and every school year month afterwards) on the second Monday of the month. Until then Congratulations to all Class of 2017 Athletes, and to the parents who cheered them along; and best wishes to all Falcon families for a fun, restful and safe summer. We’ll return to the reporting desk in September ... GO FALCONS! SRDavey, President HAVE INPUT ON THIS SPRING SPORTS SEASON? The Athletics Department would like to hear from you! Parents and, most importantly, student-athletes, please click here to complete the Spring Parent/Student Athletics questionnaire. The survey will close on June 30th.
