In view of the above developments, an Updated List of Financial Institutions regulated by SBP is enclosed vide BPD Circular Letter No. 33/2004 dated 21.09.2004. MCB Islamic Bank Limited declared as a Scheduled Bank w. e. f. 14.09.2015 vide Notification dated 15.10.2015. SBP Order Declared Illegal, without Lawful Authority: The LHC has declared the orders of the SBP canceling the banking license of MCB dated 08.12.2005 as illegal and without lawful authority. Consequently, the original license dated 02.12.1966 will be deemed effective as it is. Al-Meezan Investment Bank Limited applied to convert itself into an Islamic commercial bank. They were issued a license in the name of Meezan Bank Limited to operate as full-fledged Islamic bank in January, 2002. The bank acquired the business of Societe Generale Bank branches operating in Pakistan and started commercial operations in March, 2002 as a model Islamic bank in Pakistan [Extract from Strategic Plan for Islamic Banking Industry of Pakistan (p. 4)].

(I)/2012 dated 13.11.2012, consequent upon all the assets, contracts, liabilities, proceedings, undertakings of the IDBP stand transferred to and vest in the Industrial Development Bank Limited (IDBL) w.e.f. 13.11.2012. 49. U Microfinance Bank Ltd. (UMFBL) The SBP has issued a nationwide microfinance banking licence to U Microfinance Bank Limited (formerly Rozgar Microfinance Bank Limited) to operate at national level vide Press Release dated 01.02.2013.
50. Pak Oman Microfinance Bank Ltd (POMFBL) The SBP has issued a licence to Pak-Oman Micro Finance Bank, which is established as a nationwide bank with a paid up capital of Rs. 500 million which has jointly been sponsored by the Sultanate of Oman and Pak Oman Investment Company vide Press Release dated 13.04.2006.
51. Kashf Microfinance Bank Ltd. (KMFBL) The State Bank of Pakistan has issued licence to Kashf Microfinance Bank Limited which will commence its operations w.e.f. 27.10.2008 vide Press Release dated 25.10.2008.
52. Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited (TMFBL): The SBP has notified the change of name to “Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited” from the “Tameer Microfinance Bank Limited” with immediate effect under Section 13(2)
(Setting up new microfinance banks) of the Microfinance Institutions Ordinance 2001 (LV of 2001) vide a Notification
dated 27.03.2017.
TMFBL was declared as scheduled MFB for the purpose of its direct membership of Clearing House with immediate effect vide

The SBP has allowed Waseela Microfinance Bank to
commence business as a nation‐wide microfinance bank, a subsidiary of M/s. Orascom Telecom Holdings (OTH) Egypt, now becomes the 7th Microfinance Bank
