Dear St. Louis Community, The Gospel has something to do with faith that focuses on Jesus. But Peter’s faith in today’s Gospel is in crisis and our faith too. St. Peter’s faith, as well as ours, may have been strong from the start; we are so very enthusiastic and eager to live it, but as doubts, difficulties in life, trials and troubles set in, our faith wavers. How to make our faith focus on Jesus? Our attachment to Jesus must be unequalled. We must not love our fathers and mothers or brothers and sisters and children more than Him. Sometimes in our lives, those people who are close to us could be our obstacles in serving God. I know of a wife who, when she was still single, was so active in church activities. But when she got married, she hoped that she could become more active together with her husband. She was wrong. Her husband became an obstacle to her relationship with God. Sometimes even going to Mass on Sundays would be the cause of their quarrels. I think her husband was selfish. He wanted the time with his wife to be devoted to him alone. I am hoping that each one of us should not be an obstacle for others in their serving the Lord. Rather let us make ourselves instruments for others who are serving Him.

MINISTRY LEADERS
If you are a leader of any Ministry at St. Louis or
desire to be, I would like to speak with you.
We are preparing a Ministry and Leader contact list
to make available to anyone who might be interested
in joining a Ministry. The Ministries in our parish
are crucial to supporting our parish family and assur-
ing that we can achieve our parish goals.
Please, if you are a leader for any of our Ministries,
contact Terry Cross at [email protected] or 850-
556-8973 and give me your contact information so
we can be sure to list you on our roster. Thank you
for all your hard work.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Peace of Christ!
We must ask for your help at this time. During the
summer, the parish’s bank account is usually at its
lowest point. On Friday July 17th, the people who came
for morning Mass discovered there had been a serious
water leak overnight. The plumbing for one of the
toilets had broken, soaked the ceiling and walls, and
flooded the south side of the church. The plumbing has
been repaired, the carpet dried out, and holes were
drilled into some walls to prevent mold. The building
will be okay, but it is truly an untimely expense.
A church home for several hundred families can expect
a certain amount of “unexpected” expenses. Through
your generosity, St. Louis is on a better financial
footing than we have been in the recent past. Still we
have not been able to build up the cushion most
parishes have for handling these emergencies. Along
those lines, many parishes have already met their CSA
goals for the year. We are on our normal track to
surpass our goal, but this is starting to feel like treading
water instead of working toward a worthy goal.
Participating in the CSA is one way to build up the
larger Catholic Church, at least the one that runs from
Perry to Pensacola and is filled with people we know
and love.
We know that some people are struggling financially
right now. However many of us are still being blessed.
Jesus has gathered us together to build up his church
and spread his blessings to the ends of the Earth. We do
not have to journey quite that far to participate in our
personal missions, but we do need to work together to
succeed. Jesus has a role for each of us, and he has
given us a gift to share with those we love.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Eternal God... Bless your Church with holy and faithful priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those you have called
to the married state and those you have chosen to live as single persons in the world, the special graces that their lives
require. Form us all in the likeness of your Son so that in him, with him and through him we may love you more deeply
and serve you more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Holy King St. Louis, worthy son of our Holy Father St.
Francis and patron of the Third Order, intercede for me
with our Heavenly Father.
Obtain for me the grace to follow in thy footsteps, to be
always a dutiful child of St. Francis, and to observe ex-
actly, all the days of my life, that holy rule which thou
loved so ardently and kept so faithfully.
Be my guide and protector, so that I may never stray from
the path of virtue but increase daily in holiness and perfec-
tion, and finally merit to be numbered among the chosen
ones of our Seraphic Father in Heaven. Amen.
O God, Who didst exalt blessed Louis Thy Confessor
from an earthly realm to the glory of Thy Heavenly king-
dom: grant, we pray Thee, that by his merits and interces-
sion we may be made heirs of the King of Kings, Thy Son
our Lord Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth for ever
and ever. Amen
