13.30–14.30 Introduction to the Group Writing WorkshopWe will form teams for the Group Writing Workshop. The process for forming teams will occur in the following manner: Each D + JF workshop participant will write up a pitch for an idea for an empirical study of entrepreneurial practice. This pitch should cover: (1) TITLE, (2) Research question (3) Theoretical lens that frames the study (4) Field site (5) Do you have access currently? If not, do you have a reasonable plan for obtaining access? (6) Scholarly contribution. Following very brief pitches (2 minutes each), the TITLEs of the pitches will be placed on the walls of the meeting room, and, each D + JF workshop participant will be given three (3) “Post-its” and will have 20 minutes to walk around and place post-it notes on the three (3) ideas that each D + JF participant wants to work on. The seven (7) ideas that acquire the most stickers (highest vote count) will be used to form writing teams for the writing workshops. This will result in seven teams of three participants each. Whoever wrote the idea is “captain” for that idea and will select partners among those who are interested. The goal of the group writing workshop is a focused collaborative effort resulting in an actionable research proposal that the team could actually execute.

14.30–17.00 Group Writing Proposal Workshop (part 1)Based on the process described above, D+ JF participants with similar interests in the entrepreneurship as practice area will work together to identify a topic in the “entrepreneurship as practice” area and jointly develop a research question, literature review, a strategy for carrying out the research project, and appropriate analytical methods for generating and evaluating data collected from the field. Faculty will rotate among the groups to offer advice and insights into entrepreneurship as practice theory and methods as well as help the teams develop productive working relationships in collaborative situations.
