1.5TheScantroniNSIGHT4ESmachinereadsbothsidesofthescantron.Italsohastheabilitytoscaneachscantronandsavethescanasanimage.Thisuseslotsofspace,soifyoudecidetosaveimagesofthescantronsbesureyourUSBdrivehaslotsofroom.1.6TheRemarkClassicOMRprogramdoesnotstore“default”options.Thereforewhenyouloadtheprogram,itwillautomaticallyloadtheoptionsselectedfromthepreviousscanningsession.Thishandbookprovidestherecommendeddefaultselections.Besuretopaycarefulattentiontotheserecommendeddefaultsinordertoavoidselectingoptionsthatmaynotbeapplicabletoyourtest.

2.AnswerKeyOptions(IMPORTANT)ThereareFOURdifferentmethods(A,B,C,orDbelow)youcanusetoentertheanswerstoyourtest.ItisimportanttodecidewhichmethodyouwilluseBEFOREyoubeginscanningstudentscantrons.First,beawareofwhetheryourtesthasmultipleversionsorjustone.Ifithasmultipleversionsandyouplanonscoringallversionsinonesession,instep4youshouldNOTuse“QuickGrade”andyoushouldNOTusethe“print”option!Insteaduse“AdvancedGrade”whenyouhavemultipleversions.
A. AnswerKeyscannedastheFIRSTscantron-Youcanchoosetoscanyouranswerkeyatthetopofpile,alongwithalltheotherstudentscantrons.(Moreinfoinsection6.4.1)

4.8 PrintOptions(ontherightsideoftheClassicReadBox,seeimageonpage6)willallowyouto
“print”ascoreorotherinformationonthephysicalscantronform.- **PrintonscantronONLYifyouarescanningthetestkeyFIRSTandONLYifyouhaveaSINGLE
versionofthetestanswerkey.Otherwisethegradeprintedoneachstudent’sscantronwillbecomparedtoanotherstudent(nottheanswerkey)orthewrongversionofthetest.
- IfyouhavemorethanoneanswerkeyORyouhaven’tscannedyouranswerkeyasthefirstscantron,usethedefaultprintsettings(seetherightsideoftheClassicReadboxonpg.6).
- Clickthedropdownmenuandselectwhatyouwishtobeprintedoneachscantronform.Youcanselectthepercentageastudentgotcorrectortherawscoreamongotheroptions.
- Youcanselectmultipleitemstobeprintedontheform.Itemswon’tbeseparatedbyaspace,comma,orothersymbol.Insteaditemswillbeprintedoneaftertheother.
- ClickInserttoaddtheitemtobeprinted- Thereshouldbeagreenboxthatsays“Scanner
PrintingisActivated”ifyourselectioniscorrect.4.9 ClickNext.TheCleanYourDataOptionwillbenext. Click“EnableReviewExceptions”.
- Thisallowsyoutocheckmistakesonthescantronformastheyarebeingscanned(e.g.,multipleresponsestoasinglequestion,emptyIDsection).
- Totherightarethedefaultselectionsforthisoperation.Usethesedefaultselectionsforthebestresults.OtherwisetheprogrammaypauseforyourapprovalafterEACHscantron.

5.Scanningtheforms(Step3.5)Besureyouhavepushedthe“presstoload”buttonasecondtimesoitunlocksandraisesthescantrontray.Ifthishasnotbeendone,youmaygetawarningthatsays“scannernotready”.5.1 Returntothescannerandclicktherightbuttonbelowthedisplayscreenmarked“Start”.
5.2 Onthecomputerscreen,click“Read”intheClassicReadboxtobeginscanningthescantrons.This
boxshouldpopuponthescreen,indicatingthatthescantronsarenowscanning:
5.3 Onceabatchofscantronshasbeenread,re-loadthemachinewithanotherbatch.Press“ResumeScan”onthecomputertostartscanningthenextbatch.
5.4 Onceyouhavefinishedscanningallscantrons,select“EndScan”onthecomputerscreen.
5.5 Thereareanumberofmessagesanderrorsthatmaypopup,describedbelow.- Clearpaperpath:Thismessageappearswhenasheetremainsinanareaofthescannertoo
long,resultinginajam.Clearallsheetsfromthescannerandplacethesheetsnotscannedsuccessfulbackintheinputtray.Press“Start”toresumescanning.
- DoubleSheet:Thismessageappearswhenthescannerdetectedmorethanonepaperenteringthepaperpath.Removeallsheetsfromthetransportbedandplacebackintheinputtray.
- EndofBatch:Appearswhenyouhavefinishedscanningabatchofscantrons.- FeedForm:Appearswhenthescannerreceiveda“Read”commandfromthecomputer,
indicatingitisreadytoreadaform.Eitherpress“Start”toscanforms,or“End”ifyouarefinishedscanning.
- ProcessingSheet:Appearswhenthescannerisscanningasheetandtransmittingdatatothecomputer.
- ScannernotReady:Appearswhenthescantrontrayhasnotbe“unlocked”.Pushthe“presstoload”buttononthescannertoraisethescantrontraytothereadinglevel.
- Sheetdidnotfeed:Thescannercannotdetectasheettoberead.Trypushingthetraydownfullywiththescantronsslidallthewayforward.
- Sheetskewed:Appearswhenascantronisfedatanangle.Makesureitislayingstraight.
5.6 Ifajamoccurs,therearethreeplasticscannercoversthatcanbeliftedtoclearthejam.Pleaseusecareinopeningthese.Besuretheyarereplacedcompletely;otherwisethemachinemaynotrun.

Ifformsareunabletobereadpleasemakesurethatbubblesarefilledcorrectlyandtherightformisbeingused.Insomecases/batchestheformitselfmaybebad.Scantronrecommendscarryingextrablankformstousehasreplacementifformsarenotreadablebymachine.
PleasecontactSEComputingifthereisaconsiderableamountofformsthatarenotbeingread.Also,makesurethescannercoversareplacedproperly.Refertosection5.5and5.6ofthismanualforinstruction.

6.EditingtheAnswerKeysandTestProperties
Therearetwogradingoptions.Thefirstis“QuickGrade”andtheSecondis“AdvancedGrade”.- QuickGrade-ChoosingQuickGradefromtheuppertoolbarwillbringyoudirectlytothegrade
reports,calledRemarkQuickStats.o Note:Ifyouusethisgradingoption,thesoftwareautomaticallyassumesthatthefirst
formscannedwastheanswerkey.Theremainingscantronswillbegradedagainstthatfirstform.
o Ifyoudidnotscantheanswerkeyasthefirstscantron,oryouhavemorethanonetestkey,youwillneedtouseAdvancedGradeinstead.
- AdvancedGrade-ChoosingAdvancedGradefromtheuppertoolbarwillallowyoutoaddorchangeanswerkeysaswellasothertestparametersbeforereviewingthegradereports.TheremainderofthissectiondescribesAdvancedGradeoptions.

6.4EXTRAOPTIONS:TestOptions&QuestionProperties- TestOptions:ThissectionallowsyoutoimportapreviouslysavedAdvancedGradingsession
alongwithpreviouslysavedanswerkeys.Italsoallowsyoutoeditthescaleofthetestaswellassettheheadersthatareprintedatthetopofthereports.
- QuestionProperties:Thissectionallowsyoutosetthepropertiesofeachquestion.ThedefaultofthissectionistousetheIDnumbertoidentifythestudent,identifieseachquestionasmultiple-choice,andleavesthequestiontextblank.Youwilltypicallynothavetousethissectionunlessyouwanttomarkmultiplepossibleanswerstoacertainquestion,youwanttoweightaquestionsoitmaybeworthmoreorlesspointsthantheothers,oryouwanttoenterthetextofthequestionintoyourreport
6.5 Youcansaveyoursettingsbyclickingthesavebuttononthebottom.SavetoyourUSBdrive.If
youloseyourUSBdrive,however,whoeverfindsitwillhaveaccesstotheexamAnswerKey.

options,youmayselect“Grade”atthebottomofthewindow.

7.RemarkQuickStatsandExportingScoreReports7.1 Onceyouhavechosentogradethescantrons(eitherbyclicking“QuickGrade”orbyclicking
“Grade”inthe“AdvancedGrade”option)youwillbeledtotheRemarkQuickStatswindow.Thiswindowincludestwotabs:ReportsandData.

7.2 THEREPORTTAB:Reportsincludeinformationaboutthetestandeachstudent’sperformance.Manyofthesereportsareratherredundantandgiveyouverysimilarinformation.Aquickdescriptionofeachreportoptionisgivenintheappendix.BelowarereportsthatwillusuallybesufficientforTApurposes.

7.3 Onceyouhavedecidedwhichtestreportsyou’dliketosave,youwillneedto“Export”themtoyour

- Youcanthenchoosetheformatofthereport,howmanypagesofthereport,andtheimagequalityofthereport.Onceyouhavespecifiedthese,click“Export”.
- ChooseyourUSBdriveasthelocationforthefiletobeexported.Youmaynamethereportwhateveryou’dlikehere(e.g.,PsychFundamentalsMidterm,2015-TestAnalysisReport).ClickSave.
- Repeatthisprocessforeachreportyou’dliketosave.

7.4 THEDATATAB:TheDatatabisbasicallyaspreadsheetwitheachstudent’sIDnumber,name,testform,andresponsestoeachtestquestion.
7.5 Youwillalsowantto“Export”yourgradebook.Thisisafilewiththefinalscoreforeachstudent.You
candothisdirectlyfromtheDatataboftheRemarkQuickStatswindow.Inthebluetoolboxontheleftsideofthewindowyouwillfind7optionsunder“ExportOptions”.Youwillhavetheoptiontoincludetheanswerkeyasthefirstrowinthegradebook.- Althoughtherearemanyoptionshere,werecommendchoosingto“ExportTextualDataand
GradeResults”.Thisoptionwillgiveyoueachstudent’sresponseintheformatofA,B,C,D,orEratherthannumericformatof1,2,3,4,or5.
- YoushouldchoosetheGradebookformattobe“Standard”.
7.6 Press“Export,”choosethedestinationofexport(yourUSBdrive),thetypeoffile(werecommendusingExcel;ifyouplanonsharingwitholderversionsofoffice,werecommendExcel97-2003),andsaveyourgradebookfile.- Ifyousaveyourfileasanexcelsheetitwillaskyoutospecifythenameofthesheetinexcel.
Namethiswhateveryouwouldlike.- Push“Ok”tosave.

8.4 SelecttheTemplatestab8.5 Youwillseethatyournewlysavedsessionislistedinthe“Recent”templatessection8.6 Right-clickyoursessionandclick“RemoveFilefromRecentList”.Oncethesessionisdeleted,it
cannotberecovered.Thereforestep8.3isextremelyimportant.- Itisnecessarytodeleteyoursessionfromthe“RecentList”inordertoprotectyourtest
answersandstudentgrades.Ifyoudonotdeletethis,anyonemaybeabletowalkinandloadyourscoringsessionalongwiththeanswerkeyandstudentgrades.
8.7 EjectyourUSBdrivefromthecomputerandremoveitoncethecomputersaysitissafe.8.8 ClosetheRemarkProgramandlogoutofthecomputer.8.9 Onthescantronmachine,presstheleftbuttonbelowthedisplaywindowtoturnoffthescanner.
