Scaffolding Sight Singing 1. Hand sign and sing a scale in the key a capella. 2. If there are skips, drill those (especially more than a third). 3. What is the key? Where is “do”? 4. What is the time signature? 5. What solfege does it start on? 6. Are there any altered pitches (sharps/flats)? 7. Does the melody skip, step, or stay the same? 8. Are there other special markings- articulations, dynamics, phrasing, etc.? 9. Sing the exercise with hand signs. 10. Spot check after first run through.
