As a scaffold user you have responsibilities with regards to the safe usage of access scaffolding. Although scaffold inspections are done by a competent person appointed by the scaffold erection company, it is important for the user to know what to check for before climbing up any scaffold.

When must a scaffold be inspected?

- Once every 7 days- After Erection.- Before Dismantling- After Alterations or Modifications- After any incident resulting in Jarring, tilting or

overloading.- After Inclement Weather

Name of the company and the person who requested

the scaffold.

Area the scaffold is located and the date it was erected.

Scaffold Dimensions. Length, Width and Height

How many platforms are there on the scaffold

How many working lifts are there on the scaffold and what is the load rating of

the platform.

Name of the supervisor and erection team who build the

scaffold.

Scaffold Inspection Tag

On the back of the tag you will find the name of the

inspector and the date the scaffold was inspected.

The tag must always be displayed at the access

ladder or staircase.

Scaffold Inspection Tag

Scaffolds that are being altered, modified

or has not yet been inspected, will be fitted

with a red ‘Do Not Use” tag. When you see this tag it means

that you may not climb onto the scaffold.
