FromthePrincipal:
We have had another fantasc fortnight at Scaddan Primary School. Everyone is
working hard and the Year 4-6 students are ge ng more and more excited about
Senior Camp in a few weeks.
Senior Camp
Our Year 4-6 students will be away on Monday 12 June through to Saturday 17
June. The final cost for each student is $350. Thank you to the P&C for
contribung money towards the camp to ensure it is affordable and accessible
for everyone. Please have the final balance paid by Friday 2 June. We are happy
to accommodate any families that require a payment plan. If you need to access
this opon, please contact me in the office.
The students are going to have a fantasc me parcipang in adventure
acvies, a8ending a metropolitan school, vising the Fisheries and Marine
Research Laboratories and taking a look around Hillarys Marina.
The normal school program will run for the K-3 students during this week. As I
will be with the students at camp, Mrs Guest and Mrs Cleary will be a point of
contact for parents during this week.
Nature Play Area
We have a plan! The school has been working with the P&C to turn the idea of a
nature play area into reality. We have contracted the services of Nature Play
Soluons in Perth to draw a concept plan for our school. This plan is further on in
the newsle8er. The items included in the plan are based on suggesons from the
students and staff. To move forward with this project, we are seeking
expressions of interest from parents, families and community members who
would like to work closely with the school to help create this amazing space. If
you would like to be part of this process, please contact me at the school to
discuss further.
Week 4 Assembly
Even in the face of technical difficules our students were able to put on a
fantasc performance at the assembly. Their respect rap was very entertaining
and had a great message. Well done to Mrs Cleary for 'dropping a beat' with the
students. Congratulaons to the following award winners;

Assembly and Book Fair
On Thursday 8 June (Week 7), we will have our final assembly for the term hosted by the Junior Room. Mrs
Wandel is also organising another fantasc Book Fair that parents and students will be able to make
purchases from aOer the assembly. We will have our normal Tray Peek and shared morning tea. As always,
please make sure that you label the ingredients!
Humanies and Social Sciences (HASS) Moderaon
Last Tuesday, we hosted the teaching staff from Salmon Gums Primary School to moderate student work
samples in the learning area of HASS. The purpose of this process is to ensure that teacher judgements of
student achievement are accurate and consistent across schools. The teachers found this beneficial and we
look forward to working with Salmon Gums in this capacity again.
DREAM Project
Throughout this term, Mrs Cleary has been collaborang with schools across the region as part of the
DREAM Project. Lead by Castletown Primary School, the purpose of this project is to empower teachers
with the knowledge and skills to effecvely teach the Digital Technologies curriculum and integrate ICT into
the classroom. Mrs Cleary has been compleng an integrated program with our students using the coding
app ‘Scratch Junior’. Well done, Mrs Cleary!
ESHS Visit
On Monday 22 May, Mr Beau Scanlon from Esperance Senior High School visited Scaddan to talk with our
Year 6 students about high school and the program and courses offered. The Year 6 Transion Day at ESHS
will be in term 4.
Dental Van

This term has seen the students working very hard in the garden. They have been
preparing garden beds, planting, transplanting, weeding and painting! The crops are
starting to grow and we will be crossing our fingers for a bumper winter harvest.
A huge thank you to Mrs Naomi Hartley who comes and helps us every week, sharing
her huge amounts of gardening knowledge. Also a big thank you to Scott Wandel
for delivering a trailer full of cow manure!
Call out: We are chasing one or two bales of pea hay to keep our veggies warm. If
you have a spare bale lying around, please contact Mrs Guest.
In the kitchen, students
have been creating some
delicious food! They did a
wonderful job making
Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls.
During cooking sessions,
students are required to
work in groups to read
through their recipe, read
amounts of ingredients
needed, times and follow the
steps sequentially. They also
develop their knowledge of
healthy eating and their
knife skills.
This term our seniors have been
working on our Dream Project.
Together with a network of schools in
the region we have been learning how
to use the app ‘Scratch Jr’. Students
have been invesgang how to code
and to create a film clip. This included
the creaon of characters and
se ngs. We are excited to be almost
complete and ready to share our final
products with the rest of the school.
This term our juniors have been lucky enough
to have some Bee Bots visit. These special Bots
require a series of codes to be entered so that
they may move. We have been learning about
direcon and maps. Creang our own maps we
will code our li8le Bee Bots to reach their
desnaons!!!
