COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: SCABIES : DEFINITION scabies is a condition of very itching skin by tiny mites into your skin . ETIOLOGYCaused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY caused by an allergic reaction. the allergy reaction(itching) continue for some days and even several weeks. new lesion may appear for a few days after mites are eradicated INCUBATION PERIOD It takes 2 to 6 weeks before itching occurs in person. MODE OF TRANSMISSION~spread by close contact with someone who has a scabies. ~ spread by sharing towels bed sheets and other personal belongings. SIGN AND SYMPTOMS ITCHINGThe itch worse by warmth.Worse at night because there are fewer distraction. RASH occur in the area of the hands , feet , wrist , elbow , buttock ,external genital. RISK FACTOR Children Older adult Impaired immune system (HIV) INVESTIGATION Dermoscopy the doctor gently scrapes some dry skin from an affected area and look under a microscope and examine the skin directly. TREATMENT TOPICAL PERMETHRIN applied from the neck down before bedtime and left for about 8-14 hour then showered off in the morning IVERMECTIN an oral medication effective in eradicating scabies often is a single dose. not recommended for children under 6 years old. PREVENTION Dont share personal belonging with other. hygiene is important to prevent scabies. always wash all clothes, towels, and bedding.
