Description:Toprovidemobilityforresidentswithoutregularaccesstoautomobiles,ScottCountyhastraditionallyreliedonlimitedfixed-routetransitserviceanddial-a-rideservices.However,theCountyhasrecentlywitnessedanincreasingdenialrate(nodriversavailable)fordial-a-riderequests,andhasexperienceddifficultyrecruitingandretainingvolunteerdriverstofilltransitgaps.BecausethepopulationofseniorsandotherswithoutregularautomobileaccessinScottCountyisgrowing,thisissuewillonlybecomemoreacuteovertime.Toaddressthissituation,theCountyhasconsideredsuchthingsasapublic-privatepartnershiptoprovideon-demandtransportationservices,modeledonLyftorUber,aswellasshared-vehicleoptionsmodeledonHourCarorZipcar.Thepurposeofthisprojectistoexplorethesealternativesandotherpotentialrideshareandownershareapproachesbyconsideringtheirrelativeadvantagesanddisadvantages,researchingcasestudiesofhowtheseapproacheshavebeensuccessfullyimplementedinothersuburbanandruralcommunities,andrecommendingoneormoreapproachestheCountycouldimplementtobestmeettheneedsofresidents.Tobetterassistresidentstoplanandscheduletheirtravel,ScottCountywouldalsoliketoexploreoptionsforanonlineride-matchingservicethatwouldcoordinateandconsolidateallscheduledandon-demandtransportationoptionsavailableintheCountyKeyIssues,Questions,andIdeasforExploration:
