General/passenger informationBrazil is the largest South American country in population and size; its two largest cities are Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. For the traveler, the natural beauty and cultural diversity is astounding. Rio’s famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana have been immortalized in popular music, and the vibrant cities offer modern living along with energetic nightlife.

Brazil boasts its Carnival celebration, held every year in late February. The biodiversity of the Amazon Basin spans the width of northern Brazil, as the Highland Plateau covers most of the south and southeast. With 90 percent of Brazil situated below the equator, the seasons are reversed from North America. December through February is the summer season and the most festive time of year.
