In a very special benefit for local music and lutherie education, The Santa Barbara Acoustic Instrument Celebration will conduct a weekend viewing, demonstration and auction of two fine guitars handmade in California. The first is an L-09 donated by Larrivee Guitars in Oxnard in honor of their 50th anniversary, and the second is an exceptional "Halfling" made by world renowned luthier Tom Ribbecke in Healdsburg, donated by the LCollective. Beneficiaries of the Auction will be: The Pay It Forward Fund: harnessing the creation of stringed acoustic instruments with the making of music by supporting the finest luthiers and musicians coming to Santa Barbara from around the world, and providing guitars and lessons in each of their communities. CASA by providing funding for lessons to foster care students; Guitars2Kids: providing free guitars made by Eastman to use as loaners to active students of to Non-Profit programs including Notes For Notes by providing free guitars to studios across the county. The final and absolute auction will take place on the Esplanade in front of the historic Lobero Theatre Saturday August 26 at 7pm prior to the headlining David Lindley concert at the Lobero theatre. The bar will be open with free slack key music by Kimo West & Ken Emerson. 100% of the proceeds go the Non-Profit programs and are fully tax deductible.”
