11-13 March 2015, Sofia, Bulgaria WASTE MANAGEMENT & RECYCLING Exhibition & Conference for South-East Europe Today waste is a major challenge for the countries which do not implement modern approaches to their environmental manage- ment. The new reality is closely related to the concept of ‘circular economy’ - it enters debates, policies and priorities. A number of prerequisites determine the necessity of this model application: natural sources depletion, costs for disaster recovery, short product life cycle, accelerated growth of consumers worldwide. The progress towards ‘circular economy’ in environmentally friendly countries is impressive - some of them recycled 85% of waste, creating material flows to their economies and green jobs. The situation in South-East Europe is different – the countries are gradually imposing the prevention, recycling and reuse practices. They should speed up the investment in new capacity and transform their economy in line with the EU targets that will be discussed: 60% of waste to be recycled by 2020; efficient use of resources by 30%; landfill ban by 2025. ‘Save the Planet’ promotes updated solutions in waste management in South-East Europe. The format ‘exhibition – conference’ and the high international level ot the event create better interaction between exhibitors, visitors, speakers and attendees from across Europe. Over the years, the event has established itself as a platform for product presentations, knowledge exchange and startup partnerships. Austria is a long-term partner of ‘Save the Planet’ for sixth consecutive year. The Austrian Trade Commission in Bulgaria has supported very actively the realization of the Austrian participation. There will be an Austrian Pavilion at the Exhibition in 2015. They should speed up the investment in new capacity and transform their economy in line with the EU targets that will be discussed: - 60% of waste to be recycled by 2020 - Efficient use of resources by 30% - Decrease of incineration up to 20% - Landfill ban by 2025. ‘Save the Planet’ promotes updated solutions in waste management in South-East Europe.
