Dear Mayor,

We are pleased to invite you to save the date for the official handover of the title ofEuropean Capital of Culture from Maribor to the succeeding cities, which is going to take

place on 15th December 2012 at 19.00 at Leon tukeljSquarein Maribor. We are preparingan open air event that will symbolically end the presidency of the year full of culturalcelebration in Maribor and its partner towns.

The closing weekend of the project Maribor 2012 European Capital of Culture will takeplace from Friday, December 14

th, to Sunday, December 16

thwith the intention to celebrate

and remember the yearlong events which brought the city centre to life and gave Maribor

and the partner cities a new pulse. With this event we wish to thank all the artists and fellow

citizens that worked and co-created this year with us.

Throughout the whole year we have promoted the richness of European cultures and

strengthened mutual understanding and European identity. With numerous activities and

cultural events we helped put the towns, the region and the country on the international

map. We believe that together we have built a strong foundation for the long-term effects

on society, which will continue after this year.

We would be delighted if you could join us and together with us celebrate the year of

unforgettable and exceptional cultural events.
