A water footprint is the amount of water people use.Including…….• dishwashing•bathing laundry• pools •drinking •water to grow food that we eat •to make goods that we buy.The more water people use, the heavier their footprint is.

Water use indoors

•People use water indoors in all kinds of ways such as:

•Getting a drink•Washing and cooking food•Rinsing scraps down the garbage disposal•Washing dishes in the sink/ dishwasher•Running the washing machine•Flushing the toilet, bathing and showering

•Every drop of water people use increases their water footprint.

Saving water indoors•People who use less water in their homes have lighter water footprints.

•Here are some ways to save water in your home.•Take showers instead of baths. Power showers use far more water than ordinary showers, so many people replace them with low-flow showers.•Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.•Fix dripping taps.•Use the washing machine only if it full.•Wash dishes in a sink instead of in a dishwasher. The dishwashers rinse cycle uses a lot of water.

•If you try and do these things you will be doing a big part saving water.

•Grey water is used water from the laundry, bathroom and kitchen.

•Although grey water is too dirty to drink or wash in, it can sometimes can be reused to the water in the garden. •It saves fresh water.

•Water shortages and droughts and forcing many people to use grey water in their gardens. •Grey water from the kitchen is not ideal for use in the garden. It contains fats and other products that can harm plants and affect the soil. •Grey water from the bathroom and laundry , though, can often be used in the garden.•Using a little grey water in the garden is a good way to have a lighter water footprint/•This helps us save our fresh water.
