• Denmark is free of all major ‘exotic’ diseases. Last recorded outbreak of:
– Foot and Mouth (1983)
– Classical Swine Fever (1933)
– Aujeszky’s (1991)
– Swine Vesicular Disease (never recorded)
• Major research undertaken to control major ‘endemic’ diseases, e.g. pneumonia, lawsonia
• Major research undertaken to understand and control ‘new’ diseases, e.g. PRRS, PMWS
• National control of ‘zoonotic’ bacteria, e.g. Salmonella
Veterinary health contract
