Congregational Meeting On Sunday, April 14th, at 10:30 am in the gym, we will have a congregational meeting for an update on our principal call process and to vote on the candidate the Calling Team and Elders recommend for our new principal. THANK YOU! Our 7th grade would like to thank everyone for their support with the Applebee’s pancake breakfast. Because of the support from Grace Lutheran Church and Schools our fundraiser was a success! Thanks and God bless! PENCILS Needed

The Pew Crew is in need of new or gently used pencils for the pew racks.

If you have any gently used pencils around the house you’d like to donate please deliver them to the church office, clearly marked “Pew Pencils” or you may leave them on the Usher’s Ledge at the back of the church, or in the school office. Call Jo-Ann if you have any questions, 760-745-0831, x113. Altar Guild Ministry Opportunities What is the altar guild ministry? This is a group of volunteers that take care of the altar area on a weekly basis, setting up Holy Communion, making sure that candles are fresh for the weekend, and doing light cleaning. Typically, an hour a week is all that is required. Right now Sue Gary is coordinating with 5 monthly volunteers. Sue has been overseeing the altar guild for more than ten years and it’s past time for her to retire and move on to other ministry opportunities! We are in need of the coordinator and monthly volunteers. It’s an easy way to serve and training will be available. Pray to see if you are led to serve. Interested? Contact Jo Ann in the church office at 760-745-0831 x113 or Sue Gary at 760-500-1767 or 760-750-4420 The Lutheran Witness Magazine, a publication of the LCMS, is taking subscriptions to their monthly periodical. You can save $6.40 over the individual price by ordering through the church office. The cost is $15.60 for a one-year subscription beginning with the July 2013 issue, no increase in price for 2013. Checks may be made payable to Grace Lutheran Church and submitted to the church office, attention JoAnn. (The deadline is May 1st.) If you have questions, please call JoAnn at 760-745-08321, extension 113.

Ministry Service Celebration We will be celebrating Principal

Sandy Zielinski’s 34 years of ministry in Lutheran Schools on Saturday, June 8th, 2013 on the Grace campus. Dinner will be at 4:30p.m. followed by 6:00 worship and an ice cream

social after worship. All are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to [email protected] or 760-747-3029 ext. 114. If you have an amusing anecdote or a memory of how Sandy has blessed you or your family, please send to the above e-mail. Principal Call Committee Update ( 3/20/13) Below is the most recent update from our Principal Call Committee. You will always find the latest information on our website at www.gracelutheranescondido.org. Click on “please view” under Graceline and the updates are on the left margin of this page.

The call committee has scheduled on-site visits for two additional principal candidates. These dates are March 20th and 21st and April 5, 6, 7. Itinerary for the visits will be similar to previous campus visits. Please look for updates after the second candidate has visited in April. Continue to keep the call committee and prospective candidates in your prayers.

Attention Grace Lutheran Church members! For the past 8 years, the Jr. High has run a 2 day Career Fair for the students. This event is a great opportunity to introduce our Jr. Highers to the variety of careers available to them, and more importantly, to highlight the education and effort needed to attain these careers. However, this event is only successful when working professionals (or retirees) can help us out! We need a variety of speakers who can give one hour of their time on either Monday, May 6th or Tuesday, May 7th to come and speak with our students about their careers. We will resort to begging if need be. For more information or to sign up for this event, please contact Kelly Jacob ([email protected]) or Stacie Sanger ([email protected]) . Thank you!

Please be sure to register your attendance at each service on a yellow card located in the pew racks. Then

place it in the offering plate as it is passed or hand it to an usher. If you have any questions, please call JoAnn in the church office: 760-745-0831 ext. 113.

Clean Sweep Plans are underway for our 3rd Annual Clean Sweep, so start your Spring cleaning a little early and set aside those items you'd like to sell. The sale will take place on Saturday, April 20th in the "upper" church parking lot this year (next to the church, not next to Marie Callendar's). Price your own items, and bring them at 6 a.m. that morning for set up. The sale will begin at 7:00 a.m. and run until 12:00, when we begin to pack up and vacate by 1:00 p.m. (you are responsible for your own unsold items). Please plan to join us if you can - this has proven to be a great time of fellowship and fun while getting rid of unwanted items!! We ask that 20% of your profits be donated to Women's Ministry to cover the cost of advertising and to support our Women's Retreat fund. Sign up on the clipboard at the Women's Ministry cart with your contact information, and indicate how many "spaces" you would like to reserve in the parking lot. Call Judi Anderson at (760) 443-2278 for more information. Friendship Tea Grace Lutheran's Friendship Tea will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 11:30 am, in the Grace Lutheran Church Gymnasium. We know you will enjoy gathering among friends, as well as making new ones, as we celebrate being women of God. This event is open to all ages. A Shabby Chic English Tea including Lunch and Dessert will be served. Entertainment will include a Summer Fun Fashion Show featuring children and adults sporting the newest Summer wear from your favorite stores! Come dressed for tea and let's celebrate being women of God, in style, hat is optional! See our Facebook page via the Grace Lutheran Facebook page. Just click on the Facebook icon at the bottom of our website landing page. www.gracelutheranescondido.org
