733129. The Khatian numbers are 32 and 62. The company will manufacture those

products complying with the international quality standards. Urea formaldehyde

resin is the most common chemical and used vastly in adhesives, wooden carving,

medium-density fiberboard, electrical components and sometimes molded into

objects. Melamine Formaldehyde Resin is used for the manufacture of many

products, like overlay materials, kitchenware, laminates, particleboards and floor

tiles. Phenol-formaldehyde resin is excellent wood adhesives for plywood and

particleboard because they form chemical bonds with the phenol-like lignin

component of wood. These are popular for exterior plywood, owing to their good

moisture resistance. This is also used in the circuit board production that is for

making circuit board. The company’s registered office is situated at Village:

Haldibari, P.O. Dhankoilhat, P.S. Kaliyaganj, Dist. Uttar Dinajpur, Pin: 733129,

West Bengal.

days/month. Total production capacity will be 50000 kg/month. The manufacturing

unit is located on a freehold land of 3.25 acre or 13152.28 sqm.

2. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION

2.1. Identification of the project and project proponent.

Urea Formaldehyde Resin, Melamine Urea Formaldehyde Resin, Melamine

Formaldehyde Resin and Phenol Formaldehyde Resin are synthetic polymers

having adhesive and useful reactive properties. Due to rapid industrialization, there

is a growing demand of Resins. But, there is a huge gap of supply of raw materials

in the eastern part. This project will be a small attempt to supply that market in

eastern India. Urea formaldehyde resin are utilized by the industry in adhesives,

wooden carving, where as Phenol-formaldehyde resin is excellent wood adhesives

for plywood. Melamine Formaldehyde / Melamine Urea Formaldehyde resin is one

of the most used adhesive for semi exterior and exterior plywood, particle board

and fiberboard. Melamine Formaldehyde Resin is also used for the manufacture of

kitchenware, laminates, particleboards and floor tiles. Global demands for these

resins are increasing rapidly. Looking the expected demand of these resins in

global market as well as in domestic market, the proposed project have

2.3. Need for the Project & Importance to the Country

High demand in Resin is due to their chemical properties and usage, like

production of adhesives, varnishes and food glazing agents. They are also

considered as an important raw material used for making organic synthesis. Urea

formaldehyde resin is the chemical mixture of urea and formaldehyde. It is a non-

transparent, cross-linked thermoset resin or plastic. This type of resin is widely

Page 12: Satyam Plywood Industries SATYAM PLYWOOD INDUSTRIES …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2016-12-232 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION

used in several end-user industries as it gives high reactivity and performance at a

relatively low cost. The overall demand for this resin type is highly influenced by

the infrastructure and furniture industry. The areas of consumption of urea

formaldehyde resin, includes plywood, particle board, Medium-density fibreboard

(MDF), molding powder, adhesives and coatings, roofing mats, and others. The

global urea formaldehyde resin market is driven by the rising demand from

furniture industry and increasing consumption by end use applications, such as

plywood, medium density fiberboard, adhesives and coatings, and particle board.

Increasing demand for wood-based panels across the globe is one of the key

driving forces for the Urea Formaldehyde Resin market, along with the growing

demand for plywood as well as MDF. Keeping in mind the glowing requirements of

the clients, the Manufacturers, Exporters and Suppliers are offering quality Resin.

Owing to these enormous usages, the resin suppliers, exporters and sellers offer it

at reasonable prices.

Rapid growth in Asia-Pacific's infrastructure sector poses enormous opportunity for

the Urea Formaldehyde Resin, Melamine Urea Formaldehyde Resin, Melamine

Formaldehyde Resin and Phenol Formaldehyde Resin market. Asia-

Pacific dominates the Urea Formaldehyde Resin market with a consumption share

of about 40%. Steady growth of furniture and infrastructure industry due to

growing population is a key driver for those resin market globally. India presents

Page 13: Satyam Plywood Industries SATYAM PLYWOOD INDUSTRIES …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2016-12-232 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION

high growth potential for the urea formaldehyde resin market. The competitive

environment of the resin market is also providing opportunity for manufacturers.

Rapid growth of the resin market is driven by the growth in end-user industries.

2.4. Demand and Supply gap

Rising global demand in various industrial applications is one of the major drivers

for growth of the resins market. Demand is more than production, hence

consumption of Melamine Urea Formaldehyde and Phenol Formaldehyde Resin is

increasing day by day. This is a profitable industry, the raw materials and

machinery being indigenously available. Additionally, increasing demand for resins

from different industries is fuelling the resins market. The Asia-Pacific urea

Formaldehyde Resin market had approximately 40.5% of the market share in 2013

and is estimated to grow to $3,427.7 million by 2018 at a CAGR of 6.6% from the

year 2013-2018. The global market of Phenol Formaldehyde Resin is expected to

grow at a CAGR of 5.7% from 2014 to 2019 to reach a value of $19.31 billion. The

global market value of the melamine formaldehyde was also estimated to be about

$2.7 billion in 2014 and is projected to reach $4.4 billion by 2019, at a CAGR of

9.9% between 2014 and 2019. Phenolic resin demand is also increasing day by

day. The growing market demands of urban and semi-urban India are estimated at

Rs. 5,00,000 Crore. The demand-supply gap has already created a centre of

attention for foreign players to India; and offered immense business opportunities

Page 14: Satyam Plywood Industries SATYAM PLYWOOD INDUSTRIES …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2016-12-232 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION

to meet future market demands and exploit business opportunities. This project

will be a small attempt to supply that market in eastern India.

Competition in the Indian market swells in recent years. This had many companies

opting out of low-margin segments, as competition resulted in lower prices. A gap

between demand and supply is created. Such notable price hikes take place when

there is removal of some of the key competitors, which leads to demand override

and as a consequence prices start soaring in a free-pricing market.

2.5. Imports Vs. Indigenous production

The state and pattern of growth of the economy determine the resin requirement.

The requirements of resin may be fulfilled either through indigenous production

and/or through imports. Indian market is open and big that is why every kind of

import is booming. Indian plywood and panel trade has become global place as

different imported ply panels consumption is on the rise. Indian technology has

been updated at par with international standards. The working environment in

India has also changed enormously. It is not possible for a developing country to

import huge quantities of resin because of foreign exchange constraints where as

it is better for a country to be self-sufficient in its resin requirements. The products

manufactured will substitute the imports, saving foreign exchange to India.

Page 15: Satyam Plywood Industries SATYAM PLYWOOD INDUSTRIES …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2016-12-232 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION

2.6. Export Possibility

There may be huge opportunities to become a global supplier of quality resin. Also

there are real abundant market opportunities in the neighboring regions of Asia,

Africa and the Middle East.

2.7. Domestic/Export Markets

The end products will be sold in domestic market and would be largely exported to

the Regulated International Market as per demand.

2.8. Employment Generation (Direct & Indirect) due to the project
