“ADULT EDUCATION”

Bharti Foundation–

• Philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.• Set up to help underprivileged children and young people of our country to

realize their potential.

Satya Bharti School Program–

• Flagship program of Bharti Foundation.• It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with

special focus on the girl child across rural India.• Goal to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over

200,000 students.

Present Operational Status–

• Number of Schools Operational:250• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu &

West Bengal • Number of Students Enrolled: Over 36,000

Introduction:

Geographical Location:

Nangal Mundi village, Situated at 72 Km south west from

Gurgaon.

Fertile soil.

Under ground water level : 200 ft.

Socio- Economic Background:

Major casts are : Ahir, Rajput, Harijan, Nai, Mali, Brahman, etc.

Dominating castes : AhirMain source of earning is Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Working in factories, State Govt. offices and serving in Army.

Population : 2836

About the Community:

Almost 25 % of the adults were illiterate in the whole village.

We felt:

As Satya Bharti School is working on delivering quality education to underprivileged children. When focus on the

parents of these children. We found that almost 50 percent of the parents were illiterate, as a result these parents were not

facilitated their children in studying, in completion of homework. They also not understand the value of education.

Darkness to Light

“ADULT EDUCATION”

We Imagine:

All villagers of Nangal Mundi village will be educated and enlighten the lamp of developed community & village as a

whole.

We Did:

• We went door to door to identify the people who were uneducated. • Awareness Rally on value of education in the village.• corner plays at the Panchayat-Bhavan, the village temple where people had gathered in big number.

• Poster display on common places of the village.•Persuade people to get in touch with education.• Facilitate adult/ older people in writing his/ her name.

Impact on Community:

Community people appraised initiative taken by the student.

Some of the parents felt very proud when their children starts taught them their name on the slate.

Community member understand the value of education. Some of the old age person appeal with illiterate youth of the village that

“Bhai hamari tou umar dhal chuki, hamne tou aaj pehli baar apna naam likha hai, bada accha laga. Tum logo ki

abhi umar baki hai, inn chote baccho se padhna seekho”.

This event was highly motivating and encouraging one for students.

Minimizing hesitation of moving out, in the community.

Sharing of experience with the senior members of the community.

Impact on Us:

Due to consistent effort of the students of Satya Bharti school our some of the person starts reading & writing their names,

reading newspaper, etc.-Shri Mahaveer Singh (GP Sarpanch- Nangal

Mundi)

To persuade more people for being get in touch with education.

Quarterly rally on value of education.

On coming deepawali every student of our school will facilitate their illiterate parents/ Grand parents in writing his/her name.

Wall painting on common places with appealing slogans of value of education.
