Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, attendees will be able to: 1.) Describe basic anatomy and physiology of the neck pre and postoperatively. 2.) List 3 differences between a tracheostomy and laryngectomy. 3.) Describe the impact of a laryngectomy on the pulmonary system. 4.) Identify supplies needed for postoperative pulmonary care of the laryngectomy patient. 5.) Demonstrate basic knowledge of the steps associated with CPR for the total neck breather. 6.) Identify the 3 major communication modalities post laryngectomy. 7.) Create a home management plan for the total laryngectomy patient after discharge. 8.) Troubleshoot financial and social obstacles often associated with this patient population. 9.)
