Although the mailing address is onSanta Ana Canyon Road, you will find the park located on Gypsum Canyon Road. So becausesome of the Internet map programs are sometimes not quite accurate, the following directionsare added to help you reach the park without confusion.

From the west: Traveling eastbound on the CA-91 Fwy, pass Weir Canyon Road. Take Exit 41for Gypsum Canyon Road. Turn left at the bottom of the off-ramp. Pass under freeway and turnleft at the signal. All changes and cancellations must be received in writing prior to closing,except as provided for in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows published by the Amer-ican Kennel Club. You must fax the front and backof entry form for it to be accepted, completely filled out and signed. Notification must be received by theshow secretary from PayPal that the funds have been deposited before the entry will be accepted. Entries not on an official AKC entry form are not acceptable and photocopies of the entry form musthave the Agreement and Instructions included. The Basset Hound Club of Southern California, Inc. may deny entries to these shows due to outstandingmonetary obligations to the Club. Effective for all events held after January 1, 2008, the AKC will collect a $3.00 Event Service Fee for thefirst entry of a dog and a $3.00 service fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single entry classes, in all AKC licensed and member club events. The current $.50 record-ing fee will continue to be collected. (Chapter 11, Section 2, Rules Applying to Dog Shows, published by theAmerican Kennel Club. There is no recording fee or event service fee for junior showmanship, sweepstakes,futurities, brace/team, multi-dog classes, or special attractions.) Owners are responsible for errors on entry blanks, whoever may make such errors. Entry fees will notbe refunded in event of errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date, nor in the eventthat a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, bitch in season, or barred fromcompetition by the Show Committee. If, because of extreme weather, riots, civil disturbances, or other actsbeyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund or entryfee(s) will be made. Dogs which according to their owners’ records have completed the requirements for a championshipafter the closing of entries for the show, but whose championship is unconfirmed, may be transferred fromone of the regular classes to Best of Breed competition, provided the transfer is made with the show secre-tary at least one-half hour prior to the start of any regular conformation judging at the show. Acknowledgment of entry will be made with an exhibitor’s ticket and judging program. If not receivedwithin a reasonable time prior to the show, notify the show secretary at (760) 946-9048. Consult JudgingProgram for time of judging. Exhibitors and handlers will be held responsible for clean conditions in and around their area. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure that their dogs are free of internaland external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. ALL-BREED OBEDIENCE AND RALLY TRIALS. All Basset Hound entries in obedience and rallywill be accepted first. The remaining slots to fill the limited entry of 60 for each trial will be acceptedon a first received basis. Basset Hounds will compete first in obedience, with a High in Trial Basset tobe awarded. All regular class entries will compete for the all-breed High in Trial. After Bassets, judgingwhere applicable will be in ascending height order Saturday and descending height order Sunday. Bas-set Hounds will be judged with other breeds in rally. Move-ups will be allowed, and must be made one-half hour prior to the start of trial. (3/2011)

Judge: Miss Diane D. FooteNovice Class: This shall be for boys and girls whoare at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on theday of the show and who at the time entries closehave not won three (3) first place awards, with com-petition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed ormember show.

The winner of a Novice Class shall automaticallybecome eligible, upon notice to the Open Classring steward, to enter and compete in the OpenClass at the same show provided the win is thethird (3rd) first place award with competition andfurther providing there are one of more JuniorHandlers competing in the Open Class.

Open Class: This class shall be for boys and girlswho are at least 9 years old and under 18 yearsold on the day of the show, and who have wonthree first place awards in a Novice Class at a li-censed or member show, with competition pres-ent.

No entry may be changed or cancelled unless no-tice of the change or cancellation is received inwriting by the Superintendent or Show Secretarynamed in the premium list to receive entries, priorto the closing date and hour for entries, exceptthat a correction may be made from one age divi-sion to another, provided this transfer is made bythe Superintendent or Show Secretary at leastone half-hour prior to the scheduled start of anyJunior Showmanship class at the show.

Eligibility of Dog: Each dog handled in a regularJunior Showmanship Class must be entered inone of the Breed or Obedience Classes at theshow, or must be entered for Junior Showman-

ship only. However, a dog may be substituted.Such substitution must be accompanied by an of-ficial AKC entry form. All such substitutions mustbe made at least one half hour prior to the judgingof any Junior Showmanship Classes at the show.Each dog must be owned by the Junior Handleror by the Junior Handler’s father, mother, brother,sister, uncle, aunt, grandfather, or grandmother,including the corresponding step and half rela-tions, or by a member of the Junior Handler’shousehold. Every dog entered for Junior Show-manship must be eligible to compete in Dog Showor Obedience Trials. BITCHES IN SEASON ARENOT ELIGIBLE. At a Specialty Show, each dogmust be of the breed for which the show is held.

A dog that has been excused or disqualified by abreed judge or by a Bench Show Committee maystill be handled in Junior Showmanship if eligibleto compete in Obedience Trials. A dog that hasbeen rejected, dismissed, or excused under theDog Show Rules for the protection of other dogsat the show or for the protection of the dog ex-cused may not be handled in Junior Showman-ship.

Winning of First Place in an Open Junior ShowmanshipClass at this show may qualify or count towardqualification for entry in certain future limited Jun-ior Showmanship Classes. BEST OF BREED COMPETITIONThe following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition:Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to their owners’ records have completed therequirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing ofdogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the showwhere a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owners’ records. If, at theend of the 90-day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by The American KennelClub, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championshiphas been confirmed by the AKC.

JUDGE’S AWARDS OF MERITThe Basset Hound Club of Southern California, Inc. offers a maximum of 5 Awards of Merit to be presentedin addition to Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex. There will be a special Dark Green Rosette foreach Award of Merit recipient. The judge may at his discretion award all or none of the rosettes. Receivingan “Award of Merit” is indeed a significant honor.

BEST BRED-BY EXHIBITOR (BOTH DAYS)

NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIESStud Dog Class – For dogs that have sired two dogs or bitches entered in this show. The award will bebased on the merits of the two get, get only to be judged. The owner of the Stud Dog need not be theowner of the get. As the judge’s decision in this class will be based on the merits of more than one dogor bitch, no one of the dogs making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete forBest of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Stud Dog must appear in the ring with his two get(not more than 6) and be entered in the Stud Dog Class.Brood Bitch Class – For bitches that have whelped two dogs or bitches entered in this show. The awardwill be based on the merits of the produce. The owner of the Brood Bitch need not be the owner of theproduce. As the judge’s decision in this class will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch,no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete forBest of Breed by virtue of having won this class. The Brood Bitch must appear in the ring with her produce(not more than 6) and must be entered in the Brood Bitch Class.Brace Class – For two (2) dogs or bitches of the same breed with at least one common owner.

Obedience and Rally Trials Classification (BOTH DAYS)All Basset Hound entries in obedience and rally will be accepted first. The remaining slots to fill the limited entry of 60 for each trial willbe accepted on a first received basis. Basset Hounds will compete first in obedience, with a High in Trial Basset to be awarded. All regularclass entries will compete for the all-breed High in Trial. After Bassets, judging where applicable will be in ascending height order Saturdayand descending height order Sunday. particular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not ex-ceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough,smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat),English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Cham-pions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners' records, have completed the requirements for achampionship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best ofBreed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the re-quirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dogis divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you areentering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed.If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in anyevent for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has receivedthe registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. INSTRUCTIONS1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of a breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the

particular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not ex-ceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough,smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat),English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Cham-pions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners' records, have completed the requirements for achampionship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best ofBreed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the re-quirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dogis divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you areentering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed.If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in anyevent for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has receivedthe registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transferapplication has been mailed to A.K.C. (For complete rule refer to Chapter 11, Section 3.)
